This gem of drama/comedy is currently in its 7th series on BBC 1

Amanda Redman plays Det Sup Sandra Pullman a police officer who is re-assigned after an embarrassing incident involving a dog. She's given the task of running UCOS (Unsolved Crime and Open case Squad). the squad in question to be made up of retired officers.

THE TEAM

James Bolam plays Jack Halford a by the book copper, he's Pullmans former superior who she approaches first to get involved with the squad and to recruit others.
Halford retired from the force to look after his wife after she was hit by a car and sadly died. Halford never believed it to be an accident but couldn't get the police to investigate any further.

Dennis Waterman plays Gerry Standing the scoundrel of the team. He left the police force under a dark cloud amid claims that he was corrupt, the said claims lead to Standing punching out his superior officer. Waterman sings the rather catchy theme tune...

Alun Armstrong plays Brian Lane the eccentric of the team. He left the force after having been held partly responsible for the death of a prisoner that was in his custody. Lane's also a recovering alcoholic and has OCD.

Yes it may the typical police drama but it's the banter between the not so passed it old coppers that makes this show fresh and a winner for me.

I haven't seen much of this before, but I thought the new series opener was really good.

oh man.

How can you go from the awesomeness of adding Gordon "Wedge" Urquhart to bloody Rodney?
