Only irritation for me is when you reload a checkpoint all the guards you already took care of reappear, usually spotting you.

So bollocks to the checkpoints and start the level again.

you're not wrong checkpoints are a waste of time, I just completed the second main mission. I got to say I'm pretty impressed so far, looks and handles way better that the last Hitman, especially with the fibre wire

Glad to see its lost none of its humour either

This, with cherries on.

The checkpointing beggers belief if I'm being brutally honest.

I knock a chef out, steal and wear his clothes and hide him in a container somewhere. Shortly afterwards I reach a checkpoint and get rumbled so I restart from the checkpoint, only to walk back downstairs - STILL WEARING THE CHEF'S CLOTHES - and find said chef back in the kitchen cooking again with all his clothes on. What the fuck?

If I could be arsed to dig out the Picard facepalm gif it would go right here!

I think the design of the checkpointing is to gather all the various challenges on the replay without having to play through the whole mission.  The best example is probably the King of Chinatown for instance.   You've got umpteen challenges with which to take him out, the first time you go through this the player will no doubt wish to pick one method and play it through to the end.  But if you're mopping up challenges on a replay you can make your hit, stop, replay the checkpoint and hit him again and again and your save will always say that you've achieved this challenges despite the fact that you appear to be overwriting them?  The chef like any character is another example of this.  There are multiple ways to deal with him and if he wasn't there when the checkpoint reloads you'd have to play from the start of the chapter.  I think it only makes more sense on a replay.  What I am slightly irritated by is that is saves your last score.  So some of my initial prestigious Silent Assassin scores are overwritten with minus killing spree scores.  So for the purposes of personal pride I have to replay contracts in the exact same way to re-instate kudos.

I was off last week and finished the story, but I haven't scratched the surface on completing the challenges.  In fairness I'm not much of a gamer so I'm relatively easy pleased but I loved Blood Money and this was class.  On one hand it's a bigger much more variant game with a bigger scope, on the other hand large environments are segmented and actually make for smaller areas which does limit the freedom you have in environments.  The Terminus Hotel for instance is separated from the lower and upper floors and you can't go back to the lower floors, once you complete that.  Why would you need to, that's true, but Blood Money gives the appearance, to me at least, of offering more freedom.  But basically, there's far more levels, far more chapters, therefore more environments and it seeds variant types of gameplay while still adhering to the Hitman template. I wasn't fussed on a quite elaborate foot chase that takes place early on, but it does become "more Hitman” as it goes on.  Other good news is that there's a lot more opportunity to play with a sniper rifle, but unlike the last outing you have no choice about the tools you take to a new level, that's always dictated by the story, but there's a certain wry fun in recovering your trademark silver ballers from different scrapes.   I also had a lot of fun doing a Hansel and Gretel type trail of breadcrumbs (only with proximity mines replacing breadcrumbs).

The game play serves the excellent story brilliantly but there seems less opportunity to just "dick about” and I liked dicking about in Blood Money.

Other thoughts… I always feel guilty by having to resort to all out gun battles, but I'm pretty sure there are missions in this game which are just meant to be played with an upfront fire fight, even though you still very much have the choice of playing it stealthily.  I maintain the designers really give you a dispensation to go postal, there's one bit in a courthouse where I could see no conceivable way to play it sneakily, the game helpfully presents your would be victims as utter, utter bastards (these are cops by the way) and so you think, "ok, they asked for it”.  I very much like that part of it, the design suggestively influences your behaviour choices which means you get the satisfaction the whole way through of feeling yourself a ruthless, but fair, mofo.

Finally got round to playing this and loving it so far. I played the first mission through a few times trying to perfect it. Its typical Hitman, try to be a super sneaky sneak fuck then get rumbled and leg it through guns blazing. Try the level again and be a super sneaky sneak fuck only to get fucking rumbled again

I love (as I always have) pissing around trying different things out like not bothering about score and trying to take all the enemies out on the level and coming up with 'accidental' kills.

No doubt the haters who whinged and moaned about this game won't play it but will still be adamant that theyve ruined Hitman but they are idiots who lets face it just love to fucking moan.

Not on the 360 it isn't ...

Thanks for tempting me BTW ...

GOT TO CLEAR MY PLATE ... then I can have this.

I'm about 12 months late but that trailer with the nuns ... caused a bit of a stir. But the way I saw it was it enforced the idea that the "nuns" were shit assassins. They storm in as a crew wearing crazy obvious costumes, blowing shit up and packing the tech of a small military ... and they get taken down by one bloke. True he could have done it with some more stealth but guess it was showcasing the option to take down people with a bit more force.

Hopefully they have the balance right. I've never played Hitman ... and been waiting for a shiny version to get into.

Got this game and have been debating whether i was enjoying it or not, the sections inbetween getting to the target are basiclly sneaking through areas, then you get a new mini level when you kill the target, then more sections just sneaking around.

Anyway I finished Hunter and Hunted and the game froze during the following cutscene, when i reloaded the game my save file was gone and every challenge and score I had also had disappeared.

Fuck that, Im returning this for Far Cry this weekend

Had the exact same thing happen to me - gutted.

However, I did persevere and ended up rattling through the game again (it's amazing once you learn the level layout how easy it is to sneak around undetected). Think I might be almost finished....then this should be ripe for exchange. I've enjoyed it though, just in terms of replayability it's certainly not been my favourite game this year.

Contracts is quite nifty. Who's up for some friendly competition?

"Digital Primus" - If you haven't got me.

Defiantly a game for repeated play through's OR constantly resetting to the last check point to see what else you can do.
I've started on hard as I want to make sure I'm not tempted to blast through too. I've enjoyed it so far but there isn't as much variety as I would have liked yet. Well for instance the scoring system is a bit harsh at times. The level I am now ... is just filled with scum. I want to kill all of them. Not run and gun mind but you still get a penalty for taking out someone who isn't the target. If it's done stealthy and your offing bastard criminals ... it should be ok.

Highlight for me was killing the three henchmen during the Chinese festival. As if you were patient, observant and stay in the shadows it all comes together well enough. Added to that the specialist and extravagant deaths etc.

Has anyone got a trainer for the PC version of Hitman Absolution? I downloaded a recent version but it isn't working.

Or quite in the face of that, the next game is in development for next-gen and PC and a mobile game is also underway.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-01-07-so-whats-going-on-with-hitman

However it's going to have to be a massive improvement over Absolution, which was great until the police started chasing you, then the game got confused and didn't know what sort of game it wanted to be.

I don't understand how the rating system works? I've gotten a Shadow rating on a chapter, looked at the choose a chapter screen to verify that it had saved, but then later on it's suddenly changed to Veteran or even Agent?
I figured it was maybe because it always saved your last run (even though that would be a terrible idea), but now it's done it when I didn't replay a chapter? I turned on the game and Blackwater, which I got Shadow on yesterday, is now Agent?

It's really odd. I've tried to google but I couldn't find an explanation. Any help would be appreciated.

It's maybe not a big deal, I know if I did okay no matter what the game says, but still.
