The main bad line in the LOTR trilogy...

A toss up between "lets hunt some orc" or "Ride with me"

That one has so many connotations.


Both of those are delivered by Aragorn, and so can't be the worst line by default

The "let's hunt some orc" line is cool. I've never had a problem with it, and it always gears me up for the next film.

The thing with "bad" dialog is that the really really bad stuff tends to turn into the really really good stuff sometimes, unless it occurs in a serious dramatic scene.  I've been watching RotK alot as i've just bought the extended edition.  It is likely the most cheese filled movie i've ever seen.  Even the majority of Aragorns lines are pretty "uh no what did he just say".  I forgot who mentioned it, but I to chuckled alot in the packed theatre.

Anyways...

Whoever is using ANY Arnold dialog as "bad" dialog is dumb.  Yes, dumb.  THAT is what makes him so goddamn entertaining.

RotS?  Not sure.  That one line where anakin says something along the lines of, "...till general grevious is...spare parts."  Gosh.  HOWEVER.  Who cares.  Those films are only serious when they need to be and ep3 really did nail it.  It's the horrible lines that make films more fun to rewatch,  except for Matrix Revolutions.

That superman monologue was actually written after Tarantino and Carradine had a similar conversation one day on set. That monologue was put in to show that Bill is TOTALLY wrong about the Superman thing. He has got it all wrong, and it shows how his killer-mind operates. If he has got that Superman thing wrong, he has obviously got the Beatrix thing wrong. He doesn't understand her, or why she did what she did. He ends up shooting her.

Anytime in The Matrix Revolutions where the 3rd ship captain says anything along the line of "you're out of your goddamn mind" or "he was out of his goddamn mind."

"I don't train girls" - Clint in Million Dollar Baby. I had to keep myself from laughing in the cinema for about the first 40 mins of this movie, he was so bad.

I think it was a bit of both!!

When people like James231547376dividedby47 watch QT's films, they intentionally listen to the dialogue to try to rip the shit out of it. What they don't understand is that that Superman monologue wasn't just put in there for the coolness, or to continue his pop-culture dialogue or any other bullshit reason like that, it was there as part of characterisation. A common misconception amongst fellow forumnites as well as anybody else in the world is that all that pop-culture shit QT's characters spit is ridiculous and irrelevant. Well, no it isn't, it is there for a reason. QT does everything for a reason, he is a perfectionist.

The Superman Monologue is there because:
Bill is wrong about Superman. If he is wrong about Superman, then what he goes on to say about the relationship of Beatrix Kiddo to Clark Kent is also simply wrong. Bill doesn't understand Superman and through his incorrect analogy of the Bride, it shows that he also doesn't understand her. For Bill, Superman is a superior character, above any of societies rules and Clark Kent is Superman's critique on the human race in that he is weak and cowardly.

Bill sees him this way because he sees himself as superior to those around him, he isn't nice to anybody, he doesn't care for anybody. Bill's selfishness makes him uncapable of understanding any selfless character such as Clark Kent. All of this reveals that Bill is evil. He is a villain. He doesn't understand Superman because he is a bad man.

Don't care who wrote it - it's bloody awful.
I don't hate Tarantino, I just think he's overrated.
I enjoyed Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, True Romance and Kill Bill Vol. 1. But when he tries to crowbar in some observation or other into everyday conversation, it just doesn't work for me. It sounds totally unnatural, the sort of thing you'd expect to hear at a stand-up gig. IMO, the whole superman speech was best summed up in an article I read somewhere (may have been Empire, can't remember) where it was described as the sort of dialogue you'd expect to be written by some second rate writer who's trying to copy Tarantino. Some people love all that shit, others don't, I'm one of the ones who doesn't.

Entertaining it may be, but it cannot be denied that as far as dialogue goes it's absoultely brutal. And ANY Arnie dialogue? Come on now, anyone whos seen any of the latest Arnie films knows he can pull off bad without being funny...
