Great Scott, that's awesome but are we getting it released in UK cinemas?

Christmas Day was my first Back to the Future viewing, I remember those bastards at the BBC put it on the same time as Empire Strikes Back on ITV and I had to tape one and watch the other. What was the Total Film cock-up may I ask?

Ha - I remember when it was broadcast that Christmas, I got one of my mum's friends to tape BTTF while I recorded The Empire Strikes Back at home :-)

The Total Film BTTF cock-up was as follows (sorry for the link to rival site, Empire bosses)...

They photoshopped a screengrab of the display panel from the DeLorean so it read JUL 05 2010 and proclaimed that day 'Future Day' and posted it on Twitter...

...then it went viral with idiots around the world started forwarding it on to everyone saying that this was the date they went to the future in Part II, saying 'hilarious' things like "where are our hoverboards and power laces?"... Someone actually emailed it around my work and I had to don my nerd hat and reply with an "actually, they never went to 2010, it was 2015" which made everyone hate me for being such a know-it-all film geek... the fact I didn't even have to look the date up - I just knew - makes me even more of a sad film nerd, capable of retaining the most useless facts from childhood films...

As many times as I've seen BTTF  (and it's a pretty unhealthy amount) none of them have been at the cinema since 1985. I am really very excited to see it on the big screen again.

One thing that does kinda suck though. The film I'm now most anticipating at the cinema this year is 25 years old. Have Hollywood films really become so uninspiring? Or am I just showing my age?

Series 3 of Breaking Bad has not long finished airing in the States. Vince Gilligan has said series 4 wont start until july next year as "he wants to make it the best show it can be".

are you stupid?
Course they shouldn't.They've had their turn at the cinema,it's the new movies turns now whether you like it or not.Anyway, what the hell is the point in seeing a film you've probably seen about 100 times on TV anyway?

Because it gives people the chance to see these films the way they SHOULD be seen - on the big screen. Besides, old school blockbusters like this knock the shit out of many a newer film....

Have you ever seen a film in the cinema and compared it with a film at home? They are different experiences. A true classic such as this film is well worth a trip to the cinema to really appreciate it even if you have seen it before. It isn't stupid it is a way to truly enjoy a film (and considering some of the new movies which get screen time showing classic films is definitely an improvement upon them). Also do you have any knowledge of the Star Wars re-release in the 90's which made a significant amount of money and provided ample evidence that there is indeed a market for this type of thing?

In agreement here. I can't think of a single film to be released this year which I would rather see on the big screen. I'm really, really looking forward to this now. Would love it even more if the other 2 were being re released too. One of the rare instances of a trilogy of films being each as good as the last.

Cannot wait

This is excellent news, I can't wait!!!!! I just hope my 'local' cinema show it or I'll have to travel even further. Though to see BTTF on the big screen it just might be worth it.

I saw BTTF recently in the Belfast Odeon as part of their flashback season, but the print was pretty bad and several bits of dialogue were impossible to make out (even though I knew exactly what they were saying).

I reckon I'll still go see this if there's one near me though.

And you're asking if the other person is stupid?!

Any PROPER film fan will know exactly what the point is.
You'll be telling us next that the second AvP film is a classic!

How the fuck did a thread for the re release of a classic become a petrie dish of IMDB comments?

I cannot wait for BTTF to come out, its just well, brilliant.

I've seen Jaws many times on the TV, but for the first time saw it at the cinema last year. I had to drive for 2 hours to get there but it was worth it a hundred times over. Simply the best experience seeing it on the big screen, surrounded by like minded folk, many of who had never seen it before.

Luckily I saw BTTF the first time at the cinema. Not my favourite film to be truthful, but I shall be taking the kids (who have seen it and enjoyed it)

That's not sad, it's awesome!!! I was only 1 first time round, so even if I did go I have no memory of it!

5 days to go.

I'm like child at Christmas. Or rather it's like Christmas for me as I look forward to that childlike enthusiasm, too!
