It's been a good game so far. I like it. It certainly pushes you, even on the light workouts. I'm hoping I keep up with it. 50 points for keeping up with a 12 week program!

Got the Kinect on New Years Eve....with Dance Central.

It's one of those games that as a bloke you really dont want to like it, but you really can't help it....

I'm a closet veteran on Soulja Boy, Crank That. 4 stars on hard. Yep, I'm awesome.

Bought Dance Central for the kids for xmas and do enjoy playing it myself!

Watching the little one doing Soul Ja Boy is frickin' hilarious!

Looking to get Kinect Sports next. Will have to wait a couple of months before I have money though

It happened again! Just finished a poker game and then put on the Kinect, as the forfeit for going out first was to dance to Poker Face. Unfortunately that was me (although I did buy in again and came second to win my stake back.)

So with 5 drunk lads, so not the target audience, all saying it is the most stupid thing they can imagine playing, I danced to Poker Face and scored a resonable 5 stars, while leaving them in stitches. Eventually with enough threats and cajoling all the rest finally had a go, including some dance battles.

And now two of them have said they are going to buy a Kinect tomorrow (Even if they claimed they wouldn't pick up Dance Central).

Opened our Kinect on Christmas Day and so far have, Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports, Dance Central and The Biggest Loser.

Thoughts so far are:

Pro's:

  • Despite a slight lag, the tech works very well 97% of the time.
  • The camera is smaller and sleeker looking than I thought it would be.
  • Bowling aside (a mere shadow of it's Wii counterpart) Kinect Sports is utterly fantastic.
  • Adventures ain't half bad either.
  • The Biggest Loser has been a real suprise, well worth getting if you're into your fitness games, it's makes Wii-Fit look rather silly in my opinion.
  • Dashboard operation is suprisingly smooth and workable, as are the voice commands, even if they're limited.
  • Facial recognition and sign-in is rather natty.
  • Sitting down the camera can still track you quite well.

    Con's:

  • The camera has on three seperate occasions now decided that a person walking by either behind the player or down the side of the playing zone was in fact the actual player, from here on it's decided to follow that person instead, refusing point blank to follow anyone else until beaten with a stick.
  • You forget the thing is taking pictures through most games and tasks and whilst walking to the shower get snapped starkers in the background as your girlfriend plays a freestyle section on Dance Central.
  • I hurt my ankle playing Kinect Sports.
  • I hurt my hand playing Kinect Sports.
  • I hurt my left knee playing Kinect Sports.
  • I hit a mate in the side of the head playing Kinect Sports.
  • The Rapid Runner mini-game on Kinect Sports very nearly gave me a heart attack whilst I was gunning for the Kilometer King achievment.
  • Kinect Sports is fucking dangerous.

Having blown my work bonus on a Sensor, Kinect Sports and Kinect Adventures this weekend, can anyone recommend any decent games for it?

Your Shape Fitness Evolved and The Biggest Loser games are great for a workout. My only other piece of advice is stay away from Motion Sports.

The price has been slashed to 79 on Amazon with some deals throwing in three months of Gold membership as well.

Is it worth getting based on the games currently available or are people still banking on something good coming along in future to make it a worthwhile purchase?

It depends really, there really aren't that many good games out for it. If you're into your fitness then it will just about pay for itself as that is the real pro for the Kinect in my experience. Games such as The Biggest Loser and Your Shape are fantastic, party games such as Dance Central and Kinect Adventures are good too. I can't comment on Kinect Sports but by all accounts it's pretty good. The rest, well, not so good and the future releases don't look too promising except for Kinect Star Wars, Future Soldier and that horror game that comes out soon (the name escapes me)...

It seems a bit daft that they sold 8m units before Christmas - making it one of the biggest consumer electronic events in history - but have pretty much ignored the games so far. The fitness ones might make it worthwhile. Dance Central looks good too.

Child of Eden looks amazing. It's actually been built around Kinect rather than having gimmicky Kinect features added in afterwards (ala Future Soldier).

Still nowhere near enough to get me interested in paying even 79 for it but for anyone that already owns one it looks like a must buy.

I downloaded the Kinect Lab. Which was nowhere to be found after it finished downloading. So dl'ed again and went on it via the pending screen. I went on Kinect Me. The first 2 attempts I looked like a freckly 10 year old. The 3rd I looked like a character out of Dark Crystal. So far so crap.

The Buddy creator thing was just shit. And Googly Eyes, Well that needs to be experienced. I made a Googly Eye out of my Batman The Movie DVD. Looked more like a piece of toast or something.

Overall, it's a pile of toss, just thrown together, most likely due to lack of recent Kinect releases. Cant even use the shiny drawy thing yet.

At least there's a few achievements to be gained from it.

Has anyone else tried Yoostar 2 yet? It's fun for about 5 minutes (most of those 5 minutes weremy other half's so bad it's great, borderline racist take on "Wax on, wax off" from Karate Kid), but eventually, the concept becomes unworkable. Positioning yourself in the scene and keeping up with the line readings suck the fun out of it, and some of the scenes are far too short.

It's been getting some really great reviews. I'm mostly skint, so I'll be renting it first and pick it up down the line. Word of warning - the reviews have said how short it is, so it may be worth hanging on for the price drop.

    Totally agreed....

The game really works great on Kinect, some quirky menu issues, but other than that this is probably most responsive kinect game I've played. Also before you drop your 800pts, realise this is basically the iPad version, but for kinect... has an extra co-op local mode though. The main drive to keep playing is unlocking extras, leaderboards, and beating score of your friends with are really well integrated.... just don't expect too much competition from YFU if he is on your friend's list

I'm going to wait as I heard that Fruit Ninja Connect is being included as an extra in The Gunslinger.

That's correct. All the adds I've seen for it say 'Includes Fruit Ninja Kinect'.

Just tried the demo and while fun, not sure it is worth 800 points. Best I got on the Passion fruit was 55 hits at the end but my scores were still well below Giz and FYU.

I decided to take the plunge. I see what you mean about the mind of its own, but I had a few laps and started to get the hang of the handing. At the moment, it's merely OK but I need more time to formulate a full opinion.

The demo for The Gunstringer is up. I've got it downloaded but not had a chance to play it yet.
