Of all the Jedi in the prequels the one who most closely followed the teachings Yoda gave in Empire was Qui-Gon Jinn and he was considered a maverick.

I guess Yoda had a lot of time to think about the true nature of being a Jedi while he was in exile.

Some interesting thoughts there Deeps - in many ways Qui-Gon Jinn is the forerunner to the kind of Jedi Luke becomes at the end of Episode VI.

The kind of Jedi that's completely bored from working in a blue room every day?

Already you can see so much more detail on the half built death star.

How did I never notice that Jabbas pupils could dilate until now, this isn't one of Georges additions is it?

Bullshit, that receptionist or prison guard droid is a dick. You have need of R2-

-the Jabba Rocks song is horrid-

-on Jabbas sail barge to serve drinks? Smug twat.

The Emperor's entrance almost seems low key now compared to some of the epic shots of fleets we saw in the prequels. I wonder if one day George will add some Star Destroyers in the background of the Hangar?

Are you kidding? That shot is epic and its 100% real set too!

I'm trying to think as Lucas would think "MOAR!! WE MUST HAVE MOARR!!!"

Oh Obi Wan loves to lay it on thick, "Well if you don't want to save the galaxy you don't have to, lots of people will suffer but it's your decision an' all..."

[EDIT]

Now there's a shot we didn't see enough of in the prequels, the cockpit view of launching into lightspeed.

I'm trying to imagine what the Ewoks would be saying to each other there

"He pushed my stick! I was merely pointing it at him so he could grab it and help himself up, what a rude man!"

Question: When Luke asks Leia about her mother, and she says she remembers images and that she died when she was very young, do you reckon she's talking about Padme and this is just one of those problems of the prequels coming out so many years later, or is she talking about Breha Organa?

Bearing in mind, a quick google search suggests that Breha may not have died when Alderaan was destroyed:

quote:

Queen Breha also served as the Minister of Education[8] and it is almost certain that she died in the destruction of Alderaan in 0 BBY based on Leia's recollections of "mother" some years later.[2] Conversely, there is some evidence to suggest she may have died or divorced her husband when Leia was a child, as Leia spoke of being raised by Bail Organa's three sisters (Tia, Rouge, and Celly, whom she described as "three redoubtable dowagers" who "made her girlhood an intermittent burden"), rather than by any wife of Bail Organa.[9]

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Breha_Organa

Dunno how reliable that site is.

Damn, I was getting into that, then that stupid "Nooo" appeared I'll probably get flamed for this but it's ruined the scene.

Anyway, onto the power generator...

I still don't like Hayden at the end... he seems too disconnected. If he only held his gaze with Obi Wan for a fraction longer it wouldn't be so bad. It doesn't even seem like he knew they were filming, his flick of the hair looks more like he was waiting between takes and someone shouted "Action."

I'm mostly happy with the boxset, the picture quality is good (probably a 4/5), the sound is tip top (5/5). The highlights for me in terms of picture quality are probably Episodes 3 and 4. Episode 3 because it just looks incredible, and 4 because the extra detail shows more of the dirty lived in feel of the galaxy that George was aiming for. The other 4 are obviously an improvement, but these two just stood out for me.

I haven't started on the extras, I might get to them this week.

As for the changes: I hate the added "Noooo's" in Jedi and I'm not convinced at all that they won't be taken out in a future release, much like Lukes bizarre scream as he falls from the Bespin bridge in Empire.

Greedo shooting first is almost instantaneous now so I'm fine with that.

Others that are left over from 1997 like Vaders changed line in ESB and the Jabba scene in ANH annoy me, but they've survived for the past 14 years so it's unlikely they're ever going to go.

I'd probably give it 4/5 on the whole. It's Star Wars in HD, it's probably worth a go for that alone.

I might be wrong on this, but I don't think there are any cockpit shots of lightspeed in the prequels.

There might be maybe one in TPM, but that actully might be an outside shot.

The prequels deffo had plenty of shots of ships landing!

I bought this yesterday. I'm really looking forward to watching them again as it's been a good few years now. Even the prequel trilogy!

I have watched the original trilogy over the past couple of days. Needless changes aside, the audio and video on these releases is fantastic.

the new commentaries for the prequels add to my knowledge of the films, though its content could easily have been made up into a doc similar to 'empire/dreams'.

Just finished TESB on blu ray, looked fantastic. But one thing I need explained which is really bugging me:

When Luke leaves Hoth in his X-Wing and Han also leaves at the same time in the Millennium Falcon - why does only Han get pursued? Whereas Luke leaves to a completely empty horizon with not a single Tie/Star Destroyer in sight?

I think because the Falcon was the main priority, and they leave before Luke even steps foot in his X-wing. Probably explains the lack of Imperial ships following Luke.

why did they need an extra disc for all those extras when they could have included them on the discs containing each movie?

that would cut it down to 7 discs and make it a bit cheaper.

This is down to 44.99 in Morrisons. Tempting, but I must not give in to the dark side - at least not 'til it's down by another tenner.

So just a few months after the umpteenth re-release, this time on to blu-ray they're doing it again?!!! Do these people have no shame?
