They come up with BluRay2, or SuperHD or TurboNutterVision. Oh yes, in about five years from now they'll have a whole new excuse to bend us over and take us up that trench and come from behind all over again.

And you what, we'll probably still but them then. The force has a strong influence of the weak minded. Apparently.

Confirmation of what we already knew but no news as to when we could expect the discs. Kind of pointless article really but it gives the saddo's a chance to blog their BS about 'having to buy' it again.

I specifically like the mention 'RETURN OF THE JEDI 30th Anniversary Edition! '

I didn't notice any special releases for the Star Wars 30th or TPM’s 10th and I have not noticed any planned releases for Empire's 30th and come to think of it I don't recall that many re releases on DVD.
Actually thinking about it here was a long wait for the DVD’s while they made look good, not exactly what you call rushing them out for a quick buck.

Can't be as bad as the blatant LOTR's rip off 'Theatrical versions' box set.

At 33 years of age I couldn't care less, I blame the prequels, I have the dvd box set which looks fine on the ps3, what is the point.

 There's an easy solution DON'T FUCKING BUY THEM.  George Lucas hasn't got a fucking gun to your head.  If after all your moaning about him ripping you off and brining out different versions, if you then go out and buy them all that shows is you are weak willed and a twat.

Personally i will buy them because they will be ace on Blu Ray.

 Like others I'm a longtime fan of the original trilogy, not so much the prequels but they'd still look fantastic on Blu so from a technical pov I'll pick up all 6.
However if they pull the same stunt as the Rings trilogy I'll be pissed off - I know it's a business but releasing several Blu versions to cash in is just a slap in the face.
I'm planning to pick up Avatar on Blu at some point but read that the first disc released has bugger all extras - considering it was a long time making and used pioneering technology you'd expect some in depth behind the scenes but no: instead Fox are going for multiple bites of the apple.
It's ok for those who just want the film but then why not try and release two versions at once? A lot of other releases do that - i.e. Special Editions as well as the vanilla. Either they're taking the piss to milk the cow more or just rushed one out as the theatrical run is basically over. Either way: fail.
Fingers crossed that the Star Wars Blu Ray will at least have similar features to the DVD sets.

hopefully by '11 price of blu ray movies will have dropped and this will b worth wait. 
it better have some great in picture options and those ep IV deleted scenes they could have put in the '04 box set.

I see no real point in this argument when there are 2 great boxsets; one of the originals with both the theatrical and remastered editions, and the other with the 2 disc editions of the prequels and if you shop around you can get them relatively cheaply.

Either way, I'll be getting these on blu-ray so long as they don't do a LOTR on us, and it seems to sound as if they aren't, as they are bound to look ace.

 So basically the consensus is it’s a rip off and we’re are all being conned by being provided the opportunity to buy what is, for many, a much loved series of movies on Blu-Ray? It’s odd, because I just popped over to an alternate universe where a similar empire article was published with the title: “Lucasfilms announces no plans to release Star Wars on Blu-Ray”   It’s amazing how few responses there were containing phrases like “good, I don’t want a new version anyway” or “fantastic that’s saved me sixty quid” or even “Makes sense, he may as well wait for the next format”
Much more common were rants like: “so typical of Lucas, why doesn’t he just bow to demand and give us what we want?” and “How stupid not to embrace the new format as all the other big titles have!” Seems he’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t! I personally can’t wait!

Most of the first few Bond films received great reviews in terms of picture quality but the later ones did not. Episode 3 will most likely look the best along with the original trilogy I'm guessing

 I was an avid fan since 77, and since episode I, II & III I have lost interest in the whole saga.
I still like Ep.IV & V, but that's it and couldn't give rats ass about Blu Ray or 3-D version anymore, its gone too commercial, sold out and raped.

I know some will disagree, but is it too much to ask for one whole box set of all 6 films? I was planning to buy the boxsets you mention bburdett, as they are indeed quite cheap at the minute and especially the blu-rays aren't coming out for at least a year and a half!

 Is there any reason why lucas has redo the sixology in blu ray? How much more can he fit into the films he already brung out the redone 4,5 and 6 on dvd and many including me were disappointed at some of the things he added or changed, me personally was a bit annoyed at lucas taking out luke's scream as he fell down the shaft at the end of empire strikes back and the changing of boba's voice to resemble the actor who played jango's.
But is blu ray anything special i ain't buying anything in blu ray because there is no point to it.
He should be more concentrating on making more star wars films instead continuing to remake or rebring the ones out that have been already done and don't need fixing.

We all know that Mr Lucas is robbing us blind. I'm a big star wars fan, but with the dvd upscaling feature on most DVDs, this really is not worth my money. I won't be buying it, as someone else said, there will be a 3D version a few years after that. Peter Jackson will probably do the same with Lord Of The Rings too!

 got an old player in the garage, still got my original copy and the rejigged ones so just might give it a go.
Hey! I don't even own an iphone - nor do I want to!
by the way, I do actually like a lot of the digital universe that is oru world - just don't like being strong armed into relenting and once again purchasing the same movies.
and no amount of 'unseen footage' will make me think otherwise.
love to see a blu ray of Big Wednesday... anyone got John Milius's number?
