And then there's

Non stop fighting in a prison for 90 mins and people are put into meat grinders, explode, have faces ripped off and are even strangled with their own intestines in a truly mad and actually very funny gorefest.

Loved Destroy all Monsters and the Astro Monster. I have three of his finest movies on VHS.
Can anyone explain what Godzilla is doing to this unfortunate beast below?

Regards the Lone Wolf and Cub boxset my favourite were Babycast at the River Styx and Babycart in Peril. The latter also has a topless female warrior which is a bonus.

Giving him a scratch?  "O yes, that's the spot".   Or maybe something else?  After all, Godzilla does like to hold hands.

I agree, I used to love Monkey, and a load of us would all reenact it in the playground next Monday!  I bought the Monkey box set a while back and am  slowing ploughing throught it.  Maybe Water Margin next, I remember that being more like a Chinese version of Robin Hood and less  fantastical but still crazy action packed fun all the same.

I think I was relegated to playing Pigsy during a game of Monkey in our neighbourhead. Retribution was sweet after catching my pal's face with a swipe from my garden rake.

Pigsy was the least favourite character to play in my neighbourhood.

The Hidden (1987)                BEER MOVIE GOLD
This is perhaps a candidate for my top 5 beer movies of all time. Not only has it one of the most exciting and uber-violent starts to a flick in cinema history but it has a truly horrible and deadly villain and Claudia Christian walking about in next to nothing. The credits open with footage of a security bank camera and a messy attempted robbery. This spills out onto the street and a high speed car chase ensues. The result is the guilty party getting shot to bits by the police. Unfortunately this is no ordinary member of the public but a parasitic alien that jumps from host to host with an eye for fast cars, loud music, heavy weaponry and the job of senator and beyond.
Michael Nouri is the cop in hot pursuit with the help of FBI Agent (or is he?), Kyle McLachlan.
This is a fantastic actioner with explosive set-pieces and a bitter sweet conclusion. It is incredibly violent with a high body count (including the disabled and animals). This is by no means oscar nomination material but I love it. 8/10

Please note that there was a sequel made in 1993 that went straight to video. It follows the story on but is total crap and worth avoiding at all costs. Hidden 2 (1993) 2/10

You won't regret it. It's a cross between The Terminator, The Thing, Starman and Puppet Masters. Oh, and its got Claudia Christian with very little on - did I say that already? I'm not sure whether you can still get it on DVD though?

I don't think i've watched it before, some of the really 'so bad it's good' B movies are on DVD pretty cheap these days.


This isnt a great horror movie but it is definately worth a watch with drink. To think it spawned a further two films?

Charlie Sheen stars as an avenging angel cyborg type thingey with a very cool racing car that crashes into the bad guys. That's about it, and oh, Sherilyn Fenn forgets to put her clothes on again -god bless her. Special note to the ugly little brat from Gentle Ben series (all grown up and even uglier) who plays a villain mechanic. He dies horribly which is a brucey bonus

The first time that I watched Evil Dead 2 (sometime during my high school years) I was hooked. Mixing elements of full on gore, ultra violence and slapstick, Raimi created one of the most entertaining and fun movies ever. Although the first third, with Campbell battling the dead and his hand, is perhaps the strongest part of the flick, the finale is surreal and hilariously bad natured. This is independant film making at its very best and a movie I an watch again and again. 8/5/10

Tempted to agree with you mate, it's the most perfect combination of horror and comedy ever in my opinion.  So inventive in almost every scene and I still can't figure out why Bruce Campbell never became a big star.

You're right enough, although The Wraith would be HPD's sex mad, trailer trash cousin
I watched The Hidden again last night as my father and law likes a good bit of carnage in his flicks. I had to agree with his comment about the comparisons with Men in Black. It is like a grown up variant of this.

Bruce Campbell's cameo in Spiderman 3 was the only aspect of that movie that I enjoyed. He proved with his role as Elvis in Bubba Ho Tep (2002) that he can act a bit, but for me it's his comedy timing. Unfortunately for Bruce, he would have probably been a A Grade leading man in the 40's-50's.

SNAP!!!I love this gem of a movie,and still have it on ye old VHS,but the machine died a death years ago,and i keep reminding myself to get this one.I saw this in the cinema when it was released back in 1982,and it was a full on 18 cert,blood sex and violence.The Sword and the Sorcerer is actually a far better Conan movie than either of the official Conan movies.It's exciting, it's fun,and it's some of the most unashamedly genuine Sword & Sorcery ever put to screen, straight from the pulp magazines of the '30s to the big screen of the '80s.

Now we're talking!! Bill and myself confessed our love for this gem over on the weird thread some time ago. Gory, camp and unintentionally hilarious, this is perfect companion for the six pack. The story is all over the place, with badly cut scenes and off kilter pace, but the final brawl where the hero manages to pull huge spikes out of his hands after being crucified is cracking stuff. My only qualm is the Richard Moll, fantastic as the monstrous Xusia, disappears for most of the movie.

"Don't worry little girl, it won't hurt until it gets through to the bone". This unfortunate sadistic torturer soon gets his face carved off.
