I wouldn't have given it to Bale either, although he's had a good season. I'd have given it to Tevez, Adam or Parker, all of whom have driven their team and been the focal point of their team this season. Nasri has faded and Vidic has made a few too many mistakes for my liking for him to be given the award. But we all know this was voted for a couple of months ago, that's why Bale has been given it. If the vote had occured now then perhaps everyone would have gotten over the hysteria surrounding him.

He's actually only got one assist in the Premier League this season; that's pretty poor for a winger, but obviously its your strikers faults as well

I just think that he's been out for half the season and can only really remember two or three games he's played exceptionally well in, whereas Modric and Kompany have been consistently brilliant for the whole season.

Bale being named POTY is even worse than the last time a spurs player won it. Pathetic.

For me it should have been

1. Vidic
2. Tevez
3. Modric
4. Kompany
5. Nasri

Is this player of the 10/11 season or is it player of 2010? If it's of 2010 it might help to explain the Bale malarky, but it would still be wrong.

It's actually worse, seeing as Giggs had never won it and deserved to for his whole career, whereas Bale hasn't had a career.

Well Mata has been too inconsistent, Valencia was injured a lot (its voted for in Feb IIRC) Demba Ba and Holt? God only knows they have been brilliant all year. Krul is a half decent shout but what about Vorn for Swansea..has been great all season. As has Leon Britton.

Still surpised by the Kompany snub though.Best PL defender this year imo.

I think Song has been important for Arsenal too.
But I think he is a better forward midfielder than that of a defensive one.

I'd go with Van Persie, though maybe that's 'cos for some reason I seem to have watched Arsenal more than any other team (apart from Newcastle, obviously) this season.
If they do finish third that's a hell of an achievment considering the dissaray they were in and I'd put it largely down to his goals and workrate.

RVP for the win, though the rest of the nominees leave something to be desired.

Scott Parker, really? Over Cabaye or Britton or Song? Joe Hart over Krul or Vorm? 3 City players and no Kompany?

I'd slot in Dempsey over Rooney and find a place for Scholes.

It's RvP by a mile, isn't it? I'd have liked to have seen Britton or Dyer get a nomination. Silva has been brilliant, but has gone missing a lot too.

Silva's decline has been down to being played every week, sadly. You'd think when you spend �20m+ on a benchwarmer in his position, you might think to rotate a bit.

Also, the lack of Alex Song is indeed a joke. He's been amazing.

Nice to hear Cabaye getting mentioned as a notable omission but I'm sure he'll get over the snub as very soon I'll be presenting him with the 2011/12 Dreamiest Midfielder Award (devised and voted for by a panel of judges comprising me and me).

It's got to be van Persie. Nobody else comes close apart from Aguero. Rooney has been good but as always there's a few inclusions that are surprising. Hart hasn't been the best keeper in the league, Silva has dropped off massively and Parker just seems to have the reputation Terry once had - Mr England, Captain Fantastic, Man of the People, Let's Nominate Him for Everything. Not that Parker hasn't been good, I just think there's far more deserving players.

The biggest mistake as always is holding this vote so early.

As for young player I'd have Aguero, although Walker has been really good too.

Yep its a daft case of poor timing.I really dont see why they cant change it till the end of the current campaign.
Still unsure over Walker this season.I thought he played better last year for Villa.
