 Anyone ever had Gazza's Tears? Had three halfs of it at a beer festival a few years back and was fucking spanjaxed. They really should've called it Gazza's Piss.

 I also love a glass, i mean several litres of cider, I like it in most of it's forms but as i'm very poor it's usually Barnstormer or Tesco Cider which is very cheap and is just as good as more famous expensive brands. In fact i think i'll have me several cans this evening, then several tonight, and probably several in the early hours.

 Not really much of a cider drinker, especially if it's dry but I am partial to some Kopperberg on a hot day. Either Pear or Strawberry and Lime. I can't have more than a couple of bottles though, it's way too sweet to sesh on.

 Bulmers, Gaymers and Magners are basically all the same as Strongbow (all made by the same company using the same apples, with only some of the minor ingredients differing between the four).

The aforementioned Aspalls, Thatchers and Westons are the kings, although Orchard Pig (about the only artisan cider you can buy in the supermarket) is very tasty indeed, especially on draft.  They also do some really nice apple juices too.

 Pear this and lime that and strawberry, er, this? Sorry Ninj but this is all pish! It saddens me to hear you talk of the pish you lot drink. I used to live down in Kernow (google it) and it looks like I will for the summer comng and I wish I wish (I was a fish) that you could all enjoy the life-affirming brew that is Henry Weston's.....be it regular or vintage. There are supermarkets out there selling some of it so get on board kids. You're also missing a draft cider called Rattler, mmmm.
Trust me.......this shit I talk of above makes the likes of, oh god I hate to even write the letters, Strongbow, yuk, Magners, euuch, Blackthornes, ohmygod, you know the rest...get on the good stuff and never look back. |Or come down the Harlyn Inn pub below Padstow and I'll show ya. As long as you don't mind surfing, cider, golf, smokey smoke, backgammon, petanque, darts, pool and general good times...

 A very decent cider...



....for one brewed outside of the south-west. It's brewed in Birmingham I believe but originates from Herts. It comes in 660ml bottle (pint and a quarter roughly I believe) and is a very subtle, dry but tangy cider, it holds it's own very much against the other bottles but is pretty difficult to find in the shops.

I highly reccomend if you see it in your local though.

Nice tasting though it all is, I find all of Westons ciders WAY too heavy for me - I once made the mistake of having two bottles of the stuff right before a curry and inside of an hour I went from having the appetite of a Southern States fattie who hadn't eaten for a week to not even being able to manage a waffer thin mint.

A new discovery I've made recently is Bath Ales' Bounders - a VERY nice drop indeed. Very apple-y.

I also discovered, during my trip to Glasgow (where you can not get a decent cider for love nor money) a few months ago that everything that Kopparberg do tastes of chemicals and medicine

I have it on good authority that the PROPER (i.e. apple cider) version of this is rebadged Westons Organic.

 I go through phases of drinking lager then cider. Usually drink Magners if I go out for a long sesh (weddings etc.) as it's the kind of thing you could drink all day/night and not get pissed. If it's a few bottles in the house I'd much rather get the Thatchers/Westons/Aspalls mentioned above.

Strongbow in cans is usually cheap and gets you drunk but it tastes rough as fuck.

The one thing all ciders have in common is that they make your piss stink.
