Vadersville - looking at that awesome Joker gif got me thinking - I NEED MASK OF THE PHANTASM ON BLU-RAY!!!!!! And I'm sure there's a whole cache of behind-the-scenes stuff that can be included.

I hear you buddy! as much as I love the film after watching my DVD copy the other day for the first time in ages I realised how poor quality the transfer is. Plus, the only special feature listed on the cover is a Trailer which isn't even on the menus that i can find... They need to a proper Special Edition Blu-Ray release and pronto!

Btw, have you watched Year One yet? Be interested to hear your verdict.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, YES and YES!!! I don't even have it on dvd - haven't been able to find it so have had to suffice with rentals and TV viewings. Still my favourite Batman film, and a blu-ray with some good special features would be awesome.

Good choices. I wasn't overly keen on Superman Doomsday but Mask of the Phantasm is all kinds of awesome and Mystery of the Batwoman is so great it made me wish they'd do a proper return to the old DCAU.

As for your new ones: Under the Red Hood is probably my favourite of the new DC Animated Movies and Public Enemies and Apocalypse are great fun.

Watched Public Enemies (which I found OK) and Apocalypse (which I enjoyed).

Will save Under The Red Hood for Christmas Eve.

Apocolapyse is definitley the better out of the two. And yes, Kara did look fine, though I feel wierd for saying that seeing as she's meant to be like 14...

I would love it if they did a third entry in the Superman / Batman series. Under the Red Hood is the best of the DC Animated Original Movies yet!

In my defense, she didn't look 14.

Yeah, Bender's Joker wasn't great. It is going to be quite hard to top Hamill, though.

Just watched a trailer for the new Justice League: Doom. It doesn't look too promising, sadly.

Yeah, I mentioned on here before that I'm not expecting great things from this one. The character designs and animation look poor and they seem to have deviated drastically from the source material on this one. Shame, because Tower of Babel is a great story!

yeah, I don't think much of Doom either. I AM looking forward to see whatever they're gonna do with The Dark Knight Returns, though.

Depends where they split it I guess, if they find a suitable conclusion for the first part.

Although I've been disappointed in two parters before.... but then again this is Bruce Timm and Batman we're talking about here.

Also, if anyone wants an idea of what to expect, here's a tribute Batman: The Animated Series did for The Dark Knight Returns:

I'd like to see them do Year Two, which I thought would have have been good for the 3rd Nolan film, but I was ignored.

Holy shit the guy rates it in his top 3 DC animated films of all time!!!

Despite the animation style i'm still very much looking forward to this!

Then again he also says the animation style is 'gorgeous' and uses the words 'iconacy' and 'epicness'.
Look at the screenshot on that page. Awful, in my humble yet correct opinion.

Okay, there's an actual clip here, and the animation is quite good. I just don't like the art style.

Just saw Justice League Doom, it was pretty good; i havent read or heard anything about the story from which is based i think that added to the enjoyment.

The next DC project Superman vs The Elite...never been a fan of Superman based stories myself.

The link below gives some minor details on what it's about, who'll voice supes and more importantly (given reaction the animation in the Doom trailer)...a first look at how Superman will look.

Just saw Justice League Doom. Have to say I really enjoyed it. It departs majorly from the original source material but is still a good film in its own right. The animation is good although the Superman and Wonder Woman character designs are still a bit WTF. Strangely though it never felt as cinematic as the previous Dc animated features, but rather just an extended episode of the old Justice League series. Nop bad thing, the old series was ace but I feel that it pales in comparision to something like Under the Red Hood in terms of cinematic quality. Still, quality film and it was great to hear the old voice cast back again together again!

I, too recently viewed Doom, and thought it was fairly decent.
As Vadersville said, didn't feel as cinematic as it's predecessors, but was still fairly fun and presented some great concepts, such as wether Batman was right to do what he did, (which was sadly left slightly underdeveloped, which is a shame when the film is so short)
Indeed it was great to see almost all of the voice actors from the show together again, and each character had their own moments to shine. Some of the scenes where the heroes were getting
(MAJOR SPOILER ALERT) disposed of, eg Bats getting buried with his parents and Supe's caring personality getting exploited (END SPOILER) were quite well done.

Haven't read the source material, so not sure how it stacks up, but it was none the less very entertaining.

Apparently preliminary footage from The Dark Knight Returns adaptation was shown at Wonder Con. Doesn't seem to be available online as of yet.

Yeah, it's not bad. The plans to off the JL members weren't all particularly ingenious. You'd think Vandal Savage and his cohorts could have come up with them on their own, as they did for Batman. Its supposed to be a "How are they going to get out of this?" situation, but its all resolved in a fairly straight forward way.

Spoilers

Savage was supposed to have altered the plans from 'immobilise' to 'kill', but they don't actually bother to kill them. With Batman I guess its Bane's pride that makes him bury Bruce alive with his parents' remains to humiliate him, but with Lantern, they could have killed him,  but they just leave him there with the ring.
