Enjoyed Batman Mask of the Phantasm and loved the Animated Series.  Will have to dig some of these others out they look very good.

I bought her Wonder Woman and I was very surprised how dark it is in tone - a brave stance, but it pays off.

Agreed, was really suprised at how much I enjoyed that one, I also felt like by the end it could have spun off into a great TV series. Also really enjoy Batman Beyond Return of the Joker, really a lot of fun Mark Hamill is always great.

A few years ago, Thomas Jane did a mock-up pic of himself as JONAH HEX; the idea was to show Warner Bros. and DC Comics that he'd be ideal for the part (he was a bit of a fanboy as well) but we all know who was chosenfor the film eventually.

Anyhoo, the blu-ray of the upcoming DC Animated Feature BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD features a 'DC Showcase' animated short based on JONAH HEX and wouldn't you know - Hex is voiced by Mr. Jane himself. Guess he got to play the scar-faced gunslinger after all.

Sad news on the DC animation front. Bruce Timm says that due to lackluster sales of Green Lantern: First Flight and Wonder Woman, the DC animated dvd projects are canceled. Wonder Woman's sales were so underwhelming that the suits are now opposing anything featuring a superheroine. Apparently, Batgirl: Year One was coming soon, but that has been axed, as well as The Judas Contract and a number of others.

That's my fault, sorry.  I love the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited (pretty much in love The Huntress.  She so fine!)  but, never bought any of the movies.

Public enemies is my favourite one so far. I watched Green Lantern the other day and it was OK. Crisis on Two Earths wasnt bad at all. I didnt like Superman/Doomsday at all though.

They have done similiar storys in the animated series which are quality, I really recommend the Superman animated series and Justice Leage/Unlimited that came after- some cracking stories in there and by the end it does all feel a bit epic.

According to the back of the cover of the BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD blu-ray, the next DC Feature is entitled 'Superman/Batman: Apocalypse'. I'll post more details when they surface.

Now that Mr. (ex) Madonna isn't gonna be helming the proposed live-action LOBO film, I reckon it'd be cool if WB and DC made an animated version. So far, the main man has only made appearances in SUPERMAN: ANIMATED SERIES and JUSTICE LEAGUE - both times he was voiced to perfection by Brad Garrett - Hilarious Stuff! A violent, outer-space set story would be awesome.

I'm not a fan of FIREFLY or TERMINATOR: SARAH CHRONICLES, but those who are may be interested to know that Summer Glau will be voicing SUPERGIRL in this feature.

From 1992 onwards, there were four seasons of BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES and then around 1997, the series was given an overhaul (character redesigns etc.) and retitled THE NEW BATMAN ADVENTURES - this ran for two short seasons. There are four box-sets containing every episode.

Two versions of BATMAN design

Does the DC animated cancellations include Batman and Superman films?

no, the thing is WARNER BROS. / DC ANIMATION will still be producing feature length films it's just that some of their planned projects such as TEEN TITANS: JUDAS CONTRACT were cancelled for unknown reasons. As you can see above, UNDER THE RED HOOD and APOCALYPSE feature BATMAN and SUPERMAN.

I just finished watching JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRISIS ON TWO EARTHS - Brilliant Film. DC Animation continues to impress with these features that put most live-action comic adaptations to shame. Crisp animation and an impressive voice cast including James Woods, William Baldwin, Bruce Davison and Mark Harmon. The real treat on this blu-ray for me however, was the first in a series of short films entitled 'DC Showcase' starring THE SPECTRE; the idea on these is to introduce lesser-known DC characters to audiences not familiar with the comics.

THE SPECTRE is written by Steve Niles (30 DAYS OF NIGHT graphic novel) and is drawn with a cool 70's 'grindhouse' feel. I'm looking forward to the JONAH HEX and GREEN ARROW shorts on the upcoming releases.

JONAH HEX from the upcoming short on the BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD blu-ray -

this'll probably be more faithful to the comic than the live-action film.

Man! BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD hasn't even been released yet and the trailer for SUPERMAN/BATMAN: APOCALYPSE is already up -

I abolutely LOVE these films. Fanboy Wet Dreams come true. Forget about all this Christopher Nolan, Bryan Singer, 'who's gonna direct the Justice League film?' crap! If you're fan of DC Comics and / or animation as a medium, you need to be checking these out. As I said before, I only wish MARVEL were producing such cool stuff!

I was pretty impressed with Red Hood. They've raised the bar with the animation (done in Japan now, I notice), good performances, great action sequences. That next one looks good too.

I picked up UNDER THE RED HOOD blu-ray on Saturday but had an elongated Weekend Party to attend. I'll watch it tonight after work.
