Tim Burton's Superman Lives starring Nicolas Cage lol

Sam Raimi's Spiderman 4 starring John Malkovitch lol

Actually both of those would have probably backfired big time.

George Lucas briefly flirted with putting the prequels out in the mid-nineties, according to 'Starlog' - Branagh was being lined up as Obi Wan, the movies would have the banner 'Clone Wars', not 'Star Wars' and episode one would begin with Obi Wan training Anakin, Yoda as a Jedi leader with his own mini stormtrooper-style armour and Moff Tarkin as the treacherous senator who would aid Palapatine to power. I would have liked to have seen those movies!

Gilliam's vision of 'Watchmen' would have been interesting, flawed and mad, as would a 'Watchmen' with Paul Greengrass' vision and pacing - which was also going to happen. As is we got a Jean Paul Gaultier aftershave/perfume commercial from the at first promising prospect of Zach Snyder.

As a geek/nerd/loser/whatever the Joel Silver produced 'He-Man and the Masters of the Universe' was a regrettably shelved film.

The Holy Grail, of course, in geekdom is David Lynch's 'Return of the Jedi' - he was going to do it right up until the eleventh hour!

Kim Newman's 'Anno Dracula' starring Daniel Day Lewis had me salivating when it was announced in the late nineties.

I am still disappointed that Vincent Ward's Alien 3 never got made.  I would loved to see the wooden satellite monastery in all its glory.  The film would still work today, if not better with the indigenous group versus hard to kill invading force themes (America/Iraq/Afghanistan).

True - it doesn't make any sense.

Sense or not I think it would have looked visually great.  Satellite looking from outside and medieval/Norse from the inside.

Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon biopic. It's a shame it never became a reality as it was a project that Kubrick was very passionate about.

I'm sure it would have been a masterpiece.

Yeah, sounds a lot better than what we ended up with.

Also the Alien 3 wooden planet idea - interesting but would have been too radical a departure imo. Still a really cool idea for a sci-fi film but doesn't belong in the Alien universe established by Alien and Aliens, I know Alien 3 wasn't to everyone's tastes but it felt like it was in the same universe - albeit a different take and direction after Aliens. Alien Resurrection was dogshit though so even trying to go back into the high tech/space stylings didn't work.

Imo the best Alien 3 that never happened was the script (can't remember who by) which focused on Hicks, Newt and Bishop where Ripley died in the first act. I think it was set mostly on a space station where said survivors are picked up and somehow the aliens cause mayhem. Must track that down again. Certainly something that they could have tried to reuse for Alien 4 rather than that cloned Ripley crap, as much as Weaver is a great heroine the character really should have been left dead.

Nope, I remember that being a real film.  Probably would have been hilarious too.  Think Spy Hunter stepped on its toes early on though.

I seem to recall something about a film based on the old computer game, Spy Hunter, was in the works with The Rock attached.  Wonder what happened to that...

Aye. Aliens: Book One which was penned by Mark Verheiden if I can recall. Ripley doesn't die (she appears in the final page of Book 2 before Earth War kicks off), but the focus is switched to Hicks and Newt as they search for the Alien homeworld. Good stuff.

It was a shame that they did not do Book 2 but instead released a couple of second rate stories that loosely tied into Book 1.

I would like to have seen Hive turned into a film.  If that had worked then there were a couple of other books that would have worked as sequels.
