Edge just made a post detailing plans for the other GoW3:

http://www.edge-online.com/news/gears-of-war-3-releasing-april-2011-%E2%80%93-source

Not much info really. We get a trailer next month and then a big E3 presence. Edge doesn't really go in for rumours though so there must be some truth in it.

Good stuff. I've enjoyed the series so far so I'll look forward to that!

If the multiplayer is anything like the second then i'm not looking forward to it much. The single player campaign will no doubt be immense, but the multiplayer has really gone downhill.

I'll believe it when it comes from the horses mouth. Epic said today that E3 is going to be amazing for them, so I can't see them making any kind of pre E3 announcement or teaser.

Now this a GOW3 I can look forward to!

Absolutely loved the last one, so here's hoping they can make this one just as good.

Never really bothered with multiplayer, so not fussed on that side of things.

I gave Horde mode a shot for a month or so but co-op campaign is where its at for Gears of War. Loved the first two - they were immense. Realy looking forward to this one! Hopefully they can bring more variety in the environments for this one as that was my only complaint for the second game.

I actually really liked the multiplayer on gears. Horde provided me and my mates with hours of entertainment. And the other modes (execution, wingman) were great additions. My only gripe would be the dreadful matchmaking system.

But the main draw for me is the co-op campaign. Supposedly 5 player co-op campaign. I read that somewhere. Could be bollocks though.

What, become progressively shitter?

Do you still have GOW2 dude?

My internet connection seems to be behaving itself properly for the first time in ages so I'm looking to run through the co-op on insane if you're still up for it.

I'm in - should be good fun like the last two even if they have the crappyiest story telling . Unlike the other big 360 shooter this is highly satisfying. Hope they do a better mix of the battle theme though, I liked it more in the original, especially the finale version on the train.

Underwater levels sound a bit like another set piece to show off the tech like the sections of gears two with hundreds of locust running around, but I'm still game, I enjoyed the second a lot even if I preferred the more intimate campaign of the first, with smaller areas and what not.

I'm well up for another instalment of GoW. Marcus Fenix is a great main character and some of the battle scenes were much more intense than anything in the COD series..... Just no more crappy vehicle/riding/flying sequences please....

Cool, I've never been into Gears online but I like the insane story and the characters are great so I'm always down for more Cole Train.

Here you go. doesnt show much, except a few new characters/creatures: a female COG and a big thing that is against the locust. Much like the early ones for the past games it's more of an arty music video than a gameplay show.

Gears 3?  Let me get GOW2 finished and then, yes please.

They always do great trailers for these games - Mad World was great, the How It Will End one was even better and I like the new very much too.

Okay little details in the video after going through it and doing some digging around:
  • Humankind has seemingly ruined Sera even more with some sort of weapon
  • The female COG is pencil pusher Anya, now fighting with Delta Squad
  • Marcus is using a new double-barrel shotgun
  • Dom is using a new lancer with a normal bayonet
  • Armour is different and has a sewn together look - the COG logo is not present
  • Creature attacking the Locust is part of the lambent force from Gears 2

Indeed!

Gears of War was one of the games that finally tipped my choice over the edge and made me buy an Xbox 360. Whilst I got to the party a bit late I loved the co-op campaign. I've gone through it at least four times.

Gears of War 2 again is one of my favourite 360 games. The campaign was epic. Horde mode was/is one of the most fun multiplayer modes ever. The multiplayer ... broken ... featuring some bad design choices, lag, sluggish matchmaking and bugs. Only now have I returned to it and I have to say they seem to have fixed everything. So I'm having a lot of fun with it now.

Hopefully they don't make the same mistakes again. They really should beta test the multiplayer this time around. As I'd like to get stuck into the multplayer from the off. Not two years after release ...

Is that Dom at the start of the trailer? I've watched it a few times now and I don't think it's Dom. Are Baird and Cole in the trailer? The first time I saw it I thought it was Marcus with another squad.

Baird and Cole are in there for sure, they run in and start fighting. I agree that if that is Dom he looks a lot different.

I'm assuming it's Dom, who hasnt got over the Gears 2 events (hence the way he is looking at that particular ash corpse)

So looking forward to this now. For me, Gears is the 360's flagship franchise and I know what I'll be spending April next year doing.

IGN now have their "trailer rewind" thing up plus an article with some more info from the devs

Yeah he's just clearly less enthusiastic about life, he didn't seem to bothered when he could have been killed, he's let his beard grow because his wife died and what not.

The woman is the apparantly Anya (is that the right name?) the one you speak to on the headset during the games, so hopefully it means less of those sections where it makes you walk slowly and put your hand to your wireless headset to talk to her (never understood that anyway, seeing as it's a hands free headset ).

Not too convinced by her inclusion though, not that I have a problem with a female character, just that in this game she doesn't fit in, it was all about these large burly guys who could go toe to toe with the locusts and had brute strength aswell as these guns, I can't see her pulling off a convincing kurb stomp or winning a chainsaw duel myself.

I'm hoping Epic have gotten over their big open warzone phase now and concentrate on a more atmospheric, story driven intimate campaign more like the first game. While I liked some improvements in the second and of course Horde mode, the first for me was the better game.

Eitherway I can't wait for this.
