I want to blitz the co-op of this on Friday if anyone is down for it.

I have no friends (that play Portal 2)

I'd play through it with you MBeard but I think you need to play it with another co-op virgin to get the best experience out of it.

You can give me a hug though if you want. It's the last achievement I need.

My bedroom, one hour!

Cheers mate, I'll give you a shout when I see you. There are a good few people here looking to go through co-op, (Chief, Croverfield) so you should find someone, if not and you just want to blast through it I'm sure I can help.

I stayed at a mates last nigt and ended up getting hooked on Co-op so I've now done 4 of the 5 chapters. Annoyingly though, the game save was on his console so I will have to start it all again.

Is anyone free to blitz through the 4 chapters with me this weekend? I want to go for the numerous achievements at the same time. Anyone down ?

EDIT: Oh and can anyone help me get the Professor Portal achievement?

Kind of annoyed at the online-only achievements - it's understandable for something like Left 4 Dead as it's intended as an online game first and an offline game second, but I don't see why that should be the case for this. Obviously it doesn't really affect my enjoyment of the game, but still...

Ok, this is nerdy but I figured some Portal fans might be able to help.

I've been looking online for a Portal decal. Basically a big sticker that I can put on my wall...of a Portal. A Portal that's been made already and that shows the destination of it's other Portal. I hope that makes some kind of sense.

Because co-op was the big push for this game, just look at the box art.

Offline co-op, yeah? But some of the achievements are online co-op only, yeah?

Completed the single player yesterday and the co-operative a few days before that.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and was suprised how lengthy it was in comparison to the first. Still piss poor value compared to The Orange Box mind you, but then everything is. Judged against a bog standard full price release I'd say it earns its price tag, there's easily 12+ hours there with both campaigns.

And it's funny, very, very funny.

My only real criticism is that I found it rather easy, much like the original once you get your head round the mechanics used in some of the tougher chambers the rest is a breeze. Same with the co-operative, you have to adjust your approach a fair bit to start with but once you get your head around it the rest falls into place.

Recommended.

Completed it last night. I thought the last third of the game was fantastic, and that every time the game "changed" was welcome, as it could have gotten old fast. But thankfully it never did.

And I think it's the only time where the achievements have made me laugh out loud. Specifically the last two you get; Lunacy and This Is That Part.

Just wait for challenge mode in the free DLC with the extra levels etc. That's where the difficulty comes in, I don't know a single person including the two guys on here with the achievements that have managed to gold medal all of them without using the save exploit.

Personally I've had 20-30 hours gameplay out of it, and managed to get all the single player achievements done, the monitor smashing one proved rather challenging especially the last one.

I'm still yet to get all the multiplayer stuff done, though I've finished the campaign.

Cheers for that last night buddy.

A mate of mine opened up a 48 hour trial account for this but thanks to talpacino, I didn't need it.

No bother MBeard.

This is quite ridiculous.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/301918/news/portal-2-adoption-controversy-us-tv-news-says-game-is-offensive-to-orphans/

Local North Carolina, US news station WBTV has taken a pop at Valve and its loveable Portal 2, over what it deems an in-game "controversy".

The channel's report, which you can watch below, attacks the game and its developer for "making fun of adoption", whilst Valve and Sony's decision not to make a comment on the article is described as "passing the buck".

WBTV interviews Neil Stapel, father of a 10-year-old adopted Zoe, and suggests he was left "shocked and really surprised" by the game's content.

Stapel's daughter reportedly witnessed bot Wheatley, voiced by UK comic Stephen Merchant, deploy jibes throughout the game based on Chell's alleged status as an orphan.

"I don't know what to do," Stapel tells the channel in its report. "I still don't know what to do."

The station then shows a scene in which Wheatley calls Chell "fatty fatty no parents".

"Did you hear that?" asks WBTV's Brigida Mack over some game footage. "The character in the popular kids' video game is actually taunted for being adopted."

"It literally pokes fun for not having parents," adds Stapel. "It throws the most ultimate question that child is ever going to have for you right into the living room."

He later adds: "It's rated E for Everybody. And I was thinking it's rated E for Everybody except for orphans."

For the record, the full script from the edited Portal 2 scene used by WBTV reads:

Wheatley: All right, so that last test was seriously disappointing. Apparently, being civil isn't motivating you, so, let's try it her way, all right, fatty? Adopted... fatty! Fatty fatty no parents?

GLaDOS: And...

Wheatley: What?

GLaDOS: What exactly is wrong with being adopted?

Wheatley: What's wrong with being adopted? Um, well, uh... Lack of parents?

GLaDOS: [to Chell] For the record, you are adopted and that's terrible, just work with me.

Wheatley: Some of my my best friends are actually orphans...

GLaDOS: Also, look at her you moron. She's not fat.

Wheatley: I AM NOT A MORON! Just do the test, just do the test.

As someone who has seen their house being burned down by lemons, I was offended by Portal 2. Ban this sick filth.

Has anyone got the co-op achivement for doing a particular chamber (in the speed and velocity chambers) using only 5 portals in total?

Me and my co-op partner have racked our brains, but can't do it in any less than 6. And even that is with some creative game play.

It's actually not that difficult. You use 3 in the first room. For handiness I'll assign colours. Put red just at the edge of the pit where you come in and put your orange portal in line with where the ball or cube comes out of the dispenser thingy, I think it's the 3rd panel from the right. You have to slowly go through, just edge foreward through it carefully and as you begin to fall, push in towards the wall with the light bridge. If you don't land on the light bridge first time, just restart and go again until you do. Put your red where the light bridge hits the wall and the bridge should come out under the dispenser above. Get your friend to push the button while you go through and collect the ball/cube.

Next room is trickier. red where the light bridge hits the wall and you have to put your orange at an angle coming down from the roof beside the exit as in line as you can get it with the launch pad but as close to the exit as well. Launch yourself across so you hit the light bridge and push yourself towards the exit. This bit is poxy hard to get right so you may have to try a few times.

Errrm that was complicated, I'll try find a video.

Ooooooooooh, so it's just a matter of you both coming through the portal and falling back on to the light bridge from the surface that slightly protruding?

I have tried that, and every time fallen into the acid, but if it can be done I'll keep trying until I succeed.

It only matters for the person who placed the portals to make it first time really, as your portals will disappear if you die. Your friend can jump in as many times as he likes.
Just take it really slow, I found it easier to turn to the right and face yourself where you're going into the portal, then edge through slowly and push right hard as you go over the edge. If you time it right, you should fall diagonally down under the protruding ledge onto the bridge.

But surely he needs to come through the portal as well for the door to open?

Never mind, I'm being an idiot.

You didn't say he doesn't need to come through, just that the portal placer needs to first time.

I'm a bit slow today.
