I don't like kill streaks as they remind me of COD. Are there any Mass Effect 2 elements in this game?

Portal was fantastic and I know this will be just as good but full price?
I'll have to wait and see how they justify that.

I played this weeks ago and while I can't say much right now, I will say that it is definitely a game.

Rather bold closing statement considering some of the games due out at the end of the year: Dark Souls, Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, Batman Arkham City, Uncharted 3, to name a few.

Roll on Friday. I've not read much about this in a while, but aren't the PS3 servers integrated with the PC version's? Or something along those lines?

Mine turned up yesterday as well. But only had time to install it, no time to play it which was a shame. May give single player a bash tonight and multiplayer a go on Friday.

Played about an hour of the single player last night

Brilliant opening, and Steven Merchant is perfect as Whetley

It's a massive shame when a genuine masterpiece like this gets overshadowed by a generic war based FPS like Operation Flashpoint.*

Not touched the single player yet, but the co-op has been great, funny, enjoyable from start to (almost finish, on the last level), a great learning curve which makes the game really puzzling at times, probably the first genuinely co-operative game I've played where playing with a friend isn't just an option, it's a necessity throughout.

A really well thought out and clever game that's been every bit as good as the first and does more than enough to make this a worth while stand alone purchase despite the first being part of the incredibly generous Orange Box.

Can't wait to start the single player, and I really can't recommend this game enough.

*I'm interested in playing it co-operatively, but not until it's cheap.

Really enjoyed that, the last level was very tricky and I think some fortunate exploitation of the game caused us to finish it in a manner it possibly wasn't expecting us to take.

I still think there's more to do in Multiplayer and I still have all of SP to do.

How has Flashpoint overshadowed this? Every 360 game website I go on Flashpoint isnt even mentioned whereas Portal 2 is.

http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/ main advert banner, first feature and no mention of Flashpoint.
http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/index.html 2nd feature and no mention of Flashpoint
http://uk.xbox360.gamespy.com/ 1st feature and no mention of Flashpoint
http://www.1up.com/xbox360/ 1st feature and no mention of Flashpoint
http://uk.kotaku.com/ no mention of Portal 2 and some Flashpoint adverts

It's estimated to sell 1.5 million in its first week.  It isn't being overshadowed at all.

Well I've seen about 2 people on my Friends list with Portal 2, about 20 with Flashpoint, and going off the activity on these forums also it would suggest a similar ratio.

Portal 2 will dominate the websites and it'll sell well on Steam, but then thats because the geekier crowds are on those sites and use Steam, the masses, the CoD type players will all lap up flashpoint instead, I can see Flashpoint being number 1 on the console charts next week.

Enjoying it..

But I don't like Stephen Merchant being in the game. He is just too recognisable, so all I hear is 'Stephen Merchant' from the podcasts / the office, instead of a crazy lovable robot!

So when you say 'overshadowed' you mean you have more Flashpoint love on your friends list I looked to see who was on what earlier and Matt TP was Flashpointing but there were about 4 on Portal 2.

I quite liked the voice they used in some of the early gameplay preview videos. I wish I was at home playing this, damn you Peter Kay for coinciding with all the fun things (although Pete was bloody good!).

I might actually pick up the PS3 version as you can use the PC one (So I game play at work) and play PS3 & PC players. Apparently your saves etc carry across too. Brilliant idea. I'd end up renting the Xbox copy as the missus will want to play it too.

So that's single player and co-op done now.

What a seriously amazing game. Not enjoyed a game that much in years. Iin fact I can't remember the last game I bought and completed that quickly. Most games these days, I play a bit at release, then slowly complete over a few weeks or months... But I think that goes to show the lack of appeal most games are now providing me., and the huge gap in quality between this and most other games. The production values are stellar.

This game is as Eurogamer said 'beyond perfect'

It takes everything that made the first game so intuitive, so original, and so damn enjoyable, and just re-invents it all again. The comedy provided by Valve is brilliant, and despite taking a bit of time to get used to him, I couldn't think of a funnier and more suited voice actor for Wheatley than Stephen Merchant.

Some levels really had me thinking, and some had me stumped for a good 20 mins, some did just that, then I had to facepalm myself as they turned out to be smack you in the face obvious.

Now to play through it again and piss about a bit, explore the levels and see what I can find and what achievements I can unlock (I'm well past my achievement whoring days, but these are genuinely fun and challenging to unlock).

And as a side note, anyone erring on the side of caution because they don't see how the first could be a small component of the Orange Box yet this is a full standalone release... Don't. It's so much deeper, it isn't just four hours long, it offers an experience above and beyond the first, it's got a replayability factor and the co-op is great fun.

This was an outstanding game and I can't wait to give the Co-op a go sometime and I thought Stephen Merchant was brilliant as Wheatley.

I quite enjoyed the different gels as I thought they added a whole new dimension to the game.

Also: Space. Space. I'm in Space

Without giving anything away

Cave Jhonsons rant about lemons (and Glados's reply) is one of the most poignant moments I have come across in a game
