I actually liked part 3 the best.

Part 2 was fun but a bit too daft with OTT John Woo action scenes which work for other films like the superb Face/Off but not a traditional spy flick. Part 1 was okay but I do feel this was one of the worst culprits for showing us the climax of the movie in the trailer. And the lack of guns being used (a De Palma decision) didn't help the movie. There were lots of potential that sadly went unfulfilled (i.e the CIA turn up en masse ready for a shootout in a block of flats but there is no-one there).

Plus Larry & Adam murdered the MI Theme, which thankfully Michael Giacchino sorted.

i think it was a shame MI:2 added gunplay to the series.
it was better when in MI:1-and the tv show-they used their wits and skills, not just shot their way out of a situation.

Ebert you total b@stard!!! Spoiler alerts for Christ’s sake. He just dropped a massive clanger in the middle of his (very positive) review.

Last time I read one of his reviews before seeing a film

Noted! Will be giving his site a miss from now on

The RT score for this is incredibly impressive now! 94% with 78 reviews counted. Had a feeling this was going to get a good reception but that is pretty damn great. Still 100% with the ‘top critics’

 Took a hefty $13million at the US IMAX at the weekend enough to get it to n.o 3 in the charts surely a record?

Wow, what a rush! Easily the best one since DePalma's, which I still hold up as the gold standard of Mission: Impossible films. Mission: Impossible III was solid. M:I-2 was pretty embarrassing.

Go see this.

Amen to that!

Pout of the three films, i love MI:3 the most. It was more gritty, more violent, in your face and of course there was Maggie Q in THAT dress!!

Part 2? What a load of boll*cks!

Part 1? Good. Not excellent. A bit slow in parts. Looks a bit dated watching it now, but loved the cameo of Liverpool Street Station! Seeing as its not that far from where i live.

As for the new film, i'm looking forward to it! Who knows, it might even be better than the first two put together, fingers crossed!

I still think de Palma's movie was a bit slow and boring. And again they ruined the movie by showing the money shot of the explosion in the tunnel in the trailer.

I agree that MI2 did add gunplay, because after all we need a mixture of wits and disguise, but we also sometimes just need a good old fashioned shoot out.
