I need to re-watch Reservoir Dogs and I haven't seen Death Proof, but voted for Basterds.

I'm with Miles, as much as I love Pulp Fiction & Reservoir Dogs (I even think Kill Bill is a little bit awesome...) Basterds was just the perfect cinematic experience. It manages to be both fun and terrifying, has got a brilliant script, and equally brilliant cast. And it's got Melanie Laurent in it, Melanie Laurent!!

Kill Bill is more than a little bit awesome. My Tarantino taste is very odd, but here goes:
1. Inglourious Basterds (2009)
2. Reservoir Dogs (1992)
3. Kill Bill Part 1 (2003)
---
4. Kill Bill Part 2 (2004)
5. Pulp Fiction (1994)
6. Jackie Brown (1997)

Miles, it scares me a little that I'd go for the same option...

Jackie Brown's my least favourite, I think because it's the least Tarantino-esque. Reservoir Dogs is far better than Pulp Fiction in my eyes. The cast are all on top form, and it's a lot more fun. I like Kill Bill for the Lady Snowblood references, and the Bride/Elle fight. Eye-plucking is always a winner I'd rank Death Proof after Pulp Fiction although I don't think it's as bad as people say. It's absurd but also fairly fun when you don't take it too seriously, and watched alongside Planet Terror with the fake adverts it works particularly well.

I voted for Reservoir Dogs. As brilliant as I think Inglourious Basterds, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and both Kill Bills are (degree of greatness in that order), Dogs is still his best film.

Can best and favourite be two different choices?

His best is most certainly Reservoir Dogs, by my favourite by far is Jackie Brown.

Pulp Fiction - 5
Jackie Brown - 5
Reservoir Dogs - 4

Kill Bill Vol.1 - 3
Kill Bill Vol.2 - 2
Death Proof - 2
Inglourious Basterds - 2

All in all, Tarantino has spent the last decade ploughing the same tired furrow and producing lacklustre efforts that frustrate and bewilder anybody who remembers the bravado of his early work. He's the Oasis of cinema. A director once bristling with invention and style who now churns out two hours worth of incoherent, self-parodying, ego-driven smeg every couple of years.

As I said elsewhere, Jackie Brown is Tarantino's tightest, most fluid effort to date. A perfect balance of his exploitation/ trash-novel sensibilities, quality scriptwriting and controlled direction.

Agree with pretty much all of that though I didn't like Jackie Brown quite as much.

Pulp Fiction 5/5
Reservoir Dogs 4/5
Kill Bill 1 3/5
Jackie Brown 3/5
Kill Bill 2 2/5
Inglorious Basterds 2/5
Death Proof 1/5

I think Reservoir Dogs is by far his best.

And after that he got so full of himself that his movies have been getting progressively worse since. Not bad, by any means. But not great either.

Dogs 5/5
Pulp 4/5
Jackie 3/5
Kill Bill 3/5
Death Proof 1/5

I haven't seen Basterds yet.

Hi There,
It's a tough decision..
I voted for Pulp Fiction. I love all of his films though, even Death Proof which many people hated.
I think Inglorious Basterds was one of his most accomplished scripts and he really does deserve to win the Best Original Screenplay at this years Oscars. Fingers crossed for that one. christoph Walyz is a dead cert surely for Best Supporting Actor.
Jackie Brown i feel is always sadly forgotten, but I personally think it's a great film.
Pulp Fiction has subsequently influenced cinema more I would say than most of his other films with it's style of Dialogue & Soundtrack and so much more.
I loved Reservoir Dogs to bits but Pulp Fiction for me showed that he has raw talent and it wasn't just fluke.

Hope all is well.
Peace.

Utterly agree with this. I find it to be his most re-watchable film.

Pulp Fiction by a distance. Basterds 2nd, Dogs 3rd.

I'll be watching Inglourious Basterds pretty soon. Part of me's looking forward to it but part of me thinks it's going to be a long 2 and a half hours and leave me irritated like Death Proof and Bill 2
