I only have one suggestion, although impressive as Ray Charles, Jamie Fox should be kept as far away from this as possible as punishment for the truely awful "Miami (wretches) Vice"...

As this is my favourite film I cant imagine that they would be even contemplating making a sequel without the Duke back on board although i am aware he is in his 70s now. Perhaps have him become a bit of a wanted criminal (who just kept embezzling after the end of the first film) that Walsh is after while escorting another bounty across America. Maybe Jim Carrey. Just a thought.

About time too, guess Tribeca Grill overheads have been paid off now. As to who should play Knig opposite De Niro Chiwetel Ejiofor!. And to reading of Midnight Run 2, yes please and to doing a film as Affleck's dad, bring it on :)

Here's an idea don't just do a lazy retread of Midnight Run by having the same storyline with some flavour of the month in the role of the Duke.
Maybe Walsh has to team up with Marvin to rescue the Duke from some drug lord that he scammed or something.

Who to play King? Don't know but I bet there are many untried and gifted black actors out there who could do extremely well - this also might mean we'd get more black actors on our screens.
As for Midnight Run 2... I was thinking about that movie just the other day whilst watching Analyse This/That. I know those two movies weren't totally well loved but the ability of DeNiro to bat dialogue back and forth with someone as quick on teh draw as Billy Crystal was great to see and hear. Another great thing in those movie and Midnight Run was the imaginative use of the four letter word! Something that I will fight for is to curb the sanitisation of dialogue in films. Memories of Lethal Weapon 3 when all anyone could say was 'go spit' and 'sonofabitch'... And all that for a crummy sequel. Midnight Run needs to be action packed, funny and foul mouthed.

I remember reading that Richard Dreyfuss was up for the Grodin role once and his amazing delivery of quick fire dialogue (go back and watch the Goodbye Girl; so so film but what a performance) would make that a great pair up. Not gonna happen I know but I can dream...I'll settle for Jeff Bridges as well!

I approached this article with some trepidation, having just bought and watched Midnight Run last week, and hoping to god they never wanted to remake it, because who could actually fill the shoes of the entire original cast? But a Midnight Run 2, with De Niro? This idea I could get with. As long as, yes, it isn't fucked up. Is Yaphet Kotto still alive? Plus the news of a nice meaty role for Bobby to get stuck into is great news, after the lightweight pish he's been coasting through in recent years.

When you watch this film a few times, you enjoy Di Nero's performance, but it's Charles Grodin that commands your attention. He makes the comedy work. He's the star. To make it without him would be an awful idea. Even in his 70s he needs to be there to give the film it's heart and to make us care about it.

Midnight Run is one of the few genuine laugh-out-loud comedies, I still remember how much I laughed the first time I saw it. Not sure about the sequel, all that old school Mafia stuff would look out of place today. Most comedies today are shit and couldn't raise even a smile if you were at gunpoint. They'd want to get the script as good as the original or there's no point in doing it.

It's a remake of some sort, it has to be - Jack would be retired by now anyway. Like the civil rights idea, I'd love Denzel and Bobby to share the screen that would be very cool!!

Yaphet Kotto is still alive but he has sullied the role of Alonzo Mosely by reprising it in a Larry the Cable Guy headlining film called Witless Protection, Havent seen it but I dont think I need to.
