It's not much but hopefully every little helps.

If I've won the Euromillions tonight then I'd say your well on your way to reaching your goal

If not, then I'm afraid pay day for a more modest contribution.

But 28 days. I'm not sure I could go an hour. Ooooh next year you could do a sequel 28 weeks, no?

Sanchia, that's wonderful. Thank you, you've taken me over the 200 barrier. I'm almost half way there already!

Moriarty, I totally understand, believe me. There are times when it's a choice between a bill or using the emergency food. I get it. If I won the Euromillions, think I'd still be doing this challenge? Hell no! I'd happily give them enough to fund ten new research projects.

I'm not asking anyone to pay more than they can afford. Even 1 helps.

As for the sequel? I think that one might remain in development hell.

Well, this is it. It all kicks off today.

Right now, I'm at 258 of my 500 target.

A gentle reminder to those who said they could bung a couple of quid this way once payday arrived.

Texted a donation this morning.

Good luck!

That's enough for a big fuck-off curry at the end of the 28 days.

Ha! At the end of this 28 days I'll have to slowly reintroduce food. A curry would possibly send me to hospital!

Day 7 and I haven't eaten anything solid. It's bloody difficult!

I'm constantly getting cravings for food, real solid cravings. Yesterday, I could have broken your wrist snapping a pack of cheese and onion crisps out of your hands.

The frightening thing is the weight loss. I expected some, but not this drastically. It has been over 8lbs which is a crazy amount to lose in a week.

However, it does sort of help highlight part of the issue. Even without the liquid diet, so many IBD sufferers lose stupid amounts of weight. Basically because in a flare up, their bodies simply cannot digest the nutrients they need. Essentially, whether they can eat at the time or not, they end up starving themselves.

If, as a sufferer, you're given the Remicade infusions as treatment, your medication dosage would be amended as it's weight based. Lose too much weight, and your treatment stops until you gain enough to start the treatment all over again.

Usually, this means using a bloody awful steroid called Prednisone. The side effects turn you into Jack Torrance. Insomnia, anger, ravenous appetite, massive weight gain, anxiety and joint pain are all to be expected. So, then you get other pills to counteract the side effects, sleeping pills etc. and before you know it, the amount of tablets you're taking in a day rack up to around 20 or so.

Right now, I'm sitting at 317 of my 500 target. I know this week there's another 40 going into it and I've heard from a few others that have said that there will be 30 here, another 20 there. My 500 target is well within reach. I'm hoping I'll be leaving it in the dust and far more will be raised.

Hi

I've got a friend who's also got Crohn's - thankfully under control at the moment - who had to endure this diet a few years ago.
Well done to you for supporting your fiance this way (and raising a tidy sum too!)
Good luck to you both

Stop it! Grr.

Brundlesflies, thank you.

Your contribution yesterday was part of an overall 60 extra, so now I',m up to 377!

Only 123 off my target, so close!

Well, target is not only acquired, target is destroyed!

Thanks to everyone that has donated, I'm now at 527! I genuinely thank everyone that has given to this from the bottom of my heart. Yeah, schmaltzy, whatever, but these are difficult times and charities everywhere are begging for help.

I know I still have at least another 70 to come in, so 600 is easily within sight. Can I make 700?

Bollocks. I would have helped with this if I'd seen it before, but I don't come here much anymore.

Still plenty of time to give. I'm only on day 13 of a 28 day challenge. Seriously, anything you can give is a massive help, even if it's only 1.

Thanks Sanchia.

It's not going too badly, at the moment I have an utterly stinking cold that feels like I just can't fight it off. I have no reserve energy. That's making this much harder.

Woohoo! Day 28 is here. I could kiss the calendar, I really could. I don't think I've ever been so happy to see a day arrive. Well, there was when I was 10 and I got a BMX for Christmas, but even that's being overshadowed.

I will never be able to have tinned tomato soup again. Even the thought of it is making the bile rise in my throat.

BUT thanks to everyone who has donated (believe me, you've kept me going) the total now sits at 672!

Anyone fancy help making that up to 700'? javascript:void(AddText(''))
