Hi all sorry to bump. I'm going for sympathy vote as I'm doing the hike with a fractured foot! :D My reasoning without wanting to sound too pious is that the people I'm raising money for are in way more pain physically and emotionally than me.

So if you can, please donate anything you can afford :) Just Giving

Look what I got!!!!!!:

Now kids - go to http://www.justgiving.com/Christian-Pattison-KidsCan - and give me (well KidsCan the awesome charity of BishopQuaker), loadsamoney!!!!! (Said in a Harry Enfield accent), I mean I did take 3 and a half hours to get to the finish line, plus if you go to http://vintageblogging.blogspot.com/2010/09/great-north-run.html - there's a story from the course there that may inspire you a bit more to part with your hard-earned cash

I can testify as I saw him run past and I think I got a photo of him doing so!

I threw a bit your way. It is less than I usually do in these circumstances but Christmas shopping has been a bit pricey this month.

I don't think we could call what I was doing running - dragging my fat ass along possibly, but definitely not running!!

Thanks sanchia, even if it was 20p it all counts!

I'm Trekking Kilimanjaro!

Next year I will be climing the highest peak in Africa all in aid of KidsCan Children's Cancer Research Centre
I've never done anything quite like this before so I'm really looking forward to it - not to mention slightly nervous!

I'll need to get very fit to do it so I'm not looking forward to slogging it out in the gym for ages!

However, I'm sure I'll get there with you lot behind me.
Speaking of which, if you'd like to help me on my way, please sponsor me if you can!

Thank you!

Shifted as per request
-----------------------------
As many of you know I'm trekking Kilimanjaro for KidsCan next year, but I'm not just going to try and badger people for sponsorship.
I want people to get something for their money.

So with that in mind, I'm looking for a lot of suggestions for dares or daft (legal) things to do or that you've done.
Things you and others would sponsor me to do or sponsor to see me do rather than see me do something else.
I.e.
Sponsor me £1 (as many times as you like) to dye my hair Purple for a month
Vs
Sponsor me to wax my legs.

These and many more daft ideas are welcome so if you can come up with something you'd see me do, please let me know!

My mate has decided to kick it old school and dare me to be GUNGED ala Noel's House Party!
I'm more than happy to do this, but obviously need a bit of a financial incentive to have to get slime syringed back out of my ears!

So that being the case, have a read of my new blog - http://bit.ly/gi5kWp - and please sponsor my #daresfordosh by visiting www.justgiving.com/daresfordosh

Hi Everyone! I've written another new blog which I hope you'll read. My latest dare I want to complete is to shave my head with a razor for local charity KidsCan Children's Cancer Research Centre. Please help me "Telly Savalas" myself for a very good cause!

No sponsorship or personal request here, but in light of recent events, just thought I'd put a bit of focus on Shelter Box, the disaster relief charity currently at work in Japan and other disaster areas around the world.

quote:

ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter, warmth and dignity to people affected by disaster worldwide. Our goal is to help 500,000 people every year. Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.

In addition to Japan the charity works on many disasters that simply don't get wide spread media coverage.

You can donate at http://www.shelterbox.org/donate.php

I'm sure a lot of people have their own personal charity that they support at times of crisis, and I know it's awful actually having to choose when they're all so worthy, but this is the organisation that I'll be donating to and I'd like to give it a shout out.

Selling something on Ebay just now and just decided that all proceeds will go to shelterbox. It's not much and I'm skint but what's happening over there is tragic.

Thanks for the link Reb, I have donated to both the Red Cross Japan Tsunami Relief and to Shelterbox.   I hope my donations make even the slightest bit of difference to those in need, whether it's in Japan or elsewhere in the world. (I noticed Shelterbox is currently working hard in a number of South American countries hit by floods etc).

Thanks for the link Reb, I have posted it on Facebook myself and messaged the editors of a few tattoo magazines to see if they can help with donations as the tattoo community are trying to come together and do something to help.

Reminds me of Luke 21, 1-4. Not saying you're a widow, mind, but that passage I always found touching. Kudos.

Thanks to homersimpson_esq for letting me know about this thread.

Hello all,

I'm a presenter on Wrexham's Calon FM. Tonight, we're doing an all night marathon, 12 - 8, in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

As we do a film show Thursday nights from 8 - 10 (GMT), much of the conversation will be movie oriented, but we'll also be talking about TV, videogames, books, comics etc. We've also got some members of the band Whiskey & Lace coming in, a couple of urban explorers, and a guy who's getting the Band Of Brothers cast to parachute in aid of a Normandy memorial for Major Dick Winters.

Plus, there's the usual eclectic mix of music.

So, if you've nothing better to do, you may wanna listen in. For more details, visit http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=171863889529128 or if you just wanna straight up donate to a worthwhile organisation, visit http://www.justgiving.com/alansmithee

Cheers!

Hi guys and gals - never knew this thread existed!

Anyway, two parts to my appeal:

1. I am raising funds for the John Hartson foundation who are putting on a charity match at Derby on the 8th September (showing on ITV4).

Loads of stars appearing (details of stars here - http://www.606v2.com/t12416-the-john-hartson-trophy-names-revealed).

The charity page is here - http://www.charitygiving.co.uk/606v2

The foundation deals with raising awareness of testicular cancer.

2. As part of the fund raising activity, a few of the stars of the match are going to be doing fan Q&As with my forum. We have already got Kai Owen from Torchwood lined up and Joe Calzaghe (former boxer/ Dancer!). If you want to ask them a question, please visit the link in my address. Cheers - would appreciate some donations!

This is a complete shot in the dark but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Are any of you available to hold a collections bucket for a few hours in Liverpool City Centre this weekend?

My charity - KidsCan Children's Cancer Research Centre need some extra volunteers to collect with us!
If so please send me a message asap. Call 0161 295 3864 or E-mail info@kidscan.org.uk

If you know anyone else who might be around in Liverpool this weekend who can help please send them my way!

Cheers chaps.

Hello everyone. I posted this in the off topic section and was just informed about this thread. I write for Britflicks.com and we are trying to spread the word about the actor Tom Hardy's appeal for donations for the homeless charity FLACK Cambridge. We have an article up on our site which you can read or you can go straight to Tom's donation page here...

Thanks for your time
