I'm jealous.  Picking mine up on Monday night.

If it arrives early you'll have to give us some (spoiler-less!) impressions.  Review embargo doesn't lift until Saturday i think.

Friend of mine got the ending spoiled via a message from a stranger on xbl. So careful what you open if you've played Halo recently.
There's some bellends out there.

We should get summat going when this comes out if enough of us pick it up.

Anyone wants to play when the servers come up I'm EthanJRunt.
My copy arrived this midday, after playing on and off, not a big Halo guy, loved the original though, I have completed it, not good at these games but somehow I did it without thinking, easy enough, entertaining enough, hope multiplayer and co-op hold the game's real key though, or it's just another shooter.

Eurogamer review:

9/10. Great game and fitting encore to the Halo franchise (even though it won't be the last game) but it doesn't reinvent or innovate like the previous games (ODST aside) did. Looking forward to it. Any news on prices? Where's cheapest?

10/10 from IGN

Didn't read the review, just checked the score and read the last paragraph.  Don't want any spoilers having come this far!

I think I'm going to hold off on this until the price drops. Most of the reviews I've seen seem to indicate that while the mutliplayer is fantastic, the campaign is merely very good. And seeing as I don't have Xboxes Live anymore I'll only be playing the campaign anyway. Does the campaign have the different difficulty levels like Halo 3?

Yeah, Gonna go through on Heroic first.  Which is apparently the "sweet spot".
It's also balanced Borderlands style for Co-op, so the more people that are playing the harder the difficulty.

One of the devs said it best, to paraphrase...   "Campaign sets the table, but multiplayer is the banquet".
Campaign is apprently 10-ish hours on Heroic if you're averagely skilled.

I'm not a fan of Halo, but it's pretty hard to escape the impact it's had on us all. I swear this one guy I know actually IS the Chief.

The full-length Deliver Hope trailer doing the rounds at the moment really is gob smackingly well put together, I'd even go so far as to say it's the best piece of promotional fluff I've ever seen for a computer game. Kudos to who ever put it together, it's more poignant than most films I've seen recently.

Not a Halo fan at all as many around here know, but even I'm intrigued enough by Reach to be going through some co-op this time tomorrow. Here's hoping it's more along the lines of Halo 3 which had it's moments in co-op, and a lot lot lot better than ODST which was the most dull game I've ever had the displeasure of playing.

It arrived this morning... Playing through the campaign on solo. It definitely still feels like Halo, the weapons are punchier and the covenant have a more threatening presence. They don't speak in English anymore, which I'm not sure whether I like. I do miss the grunts running away screaming 'little people first'! Generally, it feels a lot more dramatic, the environments are more brooding and less linear unless you discount the up and down landscape your warthog will be driving. Still getting the same halo levels really, though I have just made it to the space flight mission I think.

I had pre order my copy from Amazon and their handling over Halo Reach is disgusting. They haven't got any copies left which is ok because I can get myself a copy on the highstreet tomorrow. However Amazon change my order status to 'Dispatching Soon' since 10am and I can't cancel my order.

Other customers are in the same situation as me and I doubt I will pre order another game from them again.

I thought ODST being awful was common knowledge and the general consensus? Even Halo fans thought it was bad.

I did too but check out the Duke Nukem Forever thread. He tore me a new one just for saying that ODST was disappointing and not good enough.

Not sure i agree that FPS have moved on as much as you think Him, set pieces don't make a FPS for me.  I thought ODST felt fresh.  Alone in the city, outnumbered and vulnerable.  Not experienced anything like it before.

I think ODST is... Okay... I payed £12 for it and was happy at that. I'm a bit out of touch with Halo, I'm a fan but just behind. Is Reach a prequal, story wise?

Completed it! Are games getting shorter or am I just getting better? Enjoyed it immensely. For the first time in a halo game Bungie have actually made a believable world. Though you may still spot the odd multiplayer map in the campaign. Still got Co-op, legendary, MP and Forge to enjoy.
