After watching the sickly vamp teenage angst of the Twilight films I found it quite nice to have a more adult, gory vampire film to watch recently. A good cast including Ethan Hawke, Sam Neil and Willem Dafoe and a great idea in which humans are the endangered race in a future dominated by vampires. It wasn't faultless and did take itself a bit too seriously at times but this is nonetheless a worthwhile entry into the vampire genre.

Amazing, Ethan Hawke plays his part amazingly. Unlike any other vampire film I've seen, its a breath of fresh air since the Twilight craze. I really did enjoy this and I continue to watch it again and again since.
The stephim, the ending was crap so they could make a sequel (:

Oh dear. Another vamp flick. That's what i first thought. I then watched it. And it completly blew my mind. Nothing could prepare you for what happens. Many vamp films are nearly all the same now. So i was suprised when i saw a vamp film covered in blood that both boasts an excellent cast and an interesting storyline. Daybreakers has gone where no other vamp film has even dreamed of. A truly stunning, breath-taking, ground-breaking yet stylistic and sophisticated vamp film that is serious. It is a classic!

Though this film did arrive during an unfortunate glut of vampire movies, Daybreakers offers enough dark sci-fi thrills and enough of a unique twist on the genre to satisfy.
