A two-disc collection entitled Telephantasm is due soon. It hasn't been revealed yet as to whether this is the first volume of the boxset that is currently being worked on by the band, or it is just a new Greatest Hits package. However, it will contain a new song called Black Rain.

Statement from the band:

quote:

It is with great pleasure that we can finally let you all know what we have been working on. On September 28th, we will be releasing a new retrospective called Telephantasm. It includes songs from all of our albums and E.P's, including "Black Rain", an unreleased track from the Badmotorfinger sessions. Plus, we are releasing our first ever DVD which will include never before seen video's, and much more.

We have partnered with Guitar Hero 6 to launch Telephantasm simultaneously with the launch of the new game. Which means if you buy Guitar Hero 6 for the week of September 28th you get a copy of Telephantasm as well. Of course, there will be vinyl, collectors editions, deluxe packages and more.

See you all at LOLLAPALOOZA!

Ben, Chris, Kim and Matt

These 2 tracks are almost worth the price of admission alone - odd though that the Sub Pop single's B-Side (HIV Baby) is omitted, same with the rest of the Peel Session (Sly & Family Stone and Beatles covers).  Unless there's further plunderings planned for the future...

Soundgarden played pretty much the same setlist at Lollapalooza last night, although they dropped Pretty Noose and Head Down. They performed Slaves & Bulldozers with Jack Irons, former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer.

Also, listen to new song Black Rain here.

Thanks for the heads up. I shall buy the new stuff irrespective, nice to see the finally bring out a DVD though.
Looking forward to hearing Jesus Christ Pose Live. That song is one of my drive-like-an-idiot tracks. Now grown up, I never get behind the wheel to it.

Good news, I hope there will be more from Audioslave one day too.

If people haven't, check out Euphoria Morning by Chris Cornell.

A good read, but I'm surprised Rolling Stone didn't get the first major interview since the start of the reunion.

I'm personally hoping the Soundgarden reunion completely erases Audioslave from history, as well as Chris's increasingly shite solo albums. Though I agree, Euphoria Morning is worth checking out.

Absolutely - Euphoria Morning benefits greatly from having Alain Johannes (whose own solo debut is out next month) and the late Natasha Schneider doing so much work on it.  I wanted so much to like Audioslave, but the result is so much less than the sum of its parts that it's distracting.
Anyone looking for for good Cornell stuff should look no further than the Screaming Trees' Uncle Anesthesia album where he pipes up with backing vox and recorder.

Pretty good setlist. I wish they'd play Limo Wreck more though, it's one of my favourite songs they ever did.

Any news on when they'll release some new material?

I've always dismissed this reunion as a cynical attempt by Cornell to re-live past glories after his fuck-up of a solo career. However, if Soundgarden played some London gigs, I would definitely go to see them.

Sorry! I just thought fans on here would be interested, that's all.

Apparently, they're rumoured for next year's Sonisphere.
