Fellini Satyricon>Titus>the wrongness of rawlinson in this>The fact that I haven't seen Theater of Blood.

Titus. I love that name. Titus.
You can also rhyme it with anus.

IMO, no. Remains of the Day was ok, but the film was better than his performance. Other than that it's all been a bit crap.

Titus, you damned twit, Titus, you forgot Titus. How could you forget Titus, it's awesome. Yes, Titus is bloody awesome. Titus.

Titus.

Watch Theatre of Blood. It has Vincent Price, Diana Rigg, Michael Hordern, Arthur Lowe, Coral Browne, Ian Hendry, Robert Morley, Dennis Price, Eric Sykes, Jack Hawkins and Madeline Smith. It is awesome. Anyone who doesn't want to see a film with both Diana Rigg (My av) and Madeline Smith

The only thing better then having those two in the same film is having those two in the film together having lesbian sex scenes.

Does that happen?

29. The Wild Bunch (1969, Peckinpah)
Not quite sure what to make of this ultra-violent western. What I know for sure is that the cast is awesome, but somehow, to me, most of the stuff between the two shoot-outs dragged, so I can't give it too positive a rating. Still, it's very effective, and a high 7 for sure.

32. Pauline la plage [Pauline at the Beach] (1983, Rohmer)
OK, so this has the hottest and least annoying female lead from his films I've seen so far. It's also probably more dynamic than the other 3 Rohmer films I've seen. It still didn't click with me, mainly because of its paedo subtext, and the unnaturalness of some of the dialogue. Good film still, and I get what eg Piles gets at in his review, but it's not really for me. Chloe is my favourite so far because it has the best male lead I think, or maybe just because his earlier style is better. I'm still going to continue exploring his work, every Comedies and Proverbs film so far is better than the previous one, so bring on Full Moon in Paris, Summer, and My Girlfriend's Boyfriend. This is a 7.

45. Punch-Drunk Love (2002, Anderson)
PTA, shut up! Shut the fuck up! Shut up! Will you shut up shut up shut shut shut shut shut up! Shut up!
5. If not for Hoffmann, Watson, Sandler, and Elswit, Persona would get off the bottom of the list for the year. I'd rather watch Mr. Deeds again.

That's a quote from the film though, so here you go
1) The soundtrack made me want to smash the DVD to pieces, except that it belongs to my American aunt so I couldn't.
2) The 'point' of it is similar to Amelie, so there you go again.
3) Its awkwardness is unfunny, and I found it about as romantic as a [insert something witty here], so it fails as a rom-com. It works better as a horror, now I get why some people called There Will Be Boredom that

See, you fail right there because the soundtrack has Shelley Duvall singing He Needs Me from Altman's Popeye, which as everyone knows, is awesome and underrated.

Where I go?

quote:

If you don't find "I want to scoop out your eyes and I want to eat them and chew them and suck on them." romantic then I pity whatever girl you drug, kidnap, keep tied up in your basement and call your true love.

...

Is that as harsh as it sounds?

Isn't the point of it that the two leads aren't really romantic at all, and there attempts to be so are lolsome, and that it's romantic because two people so un-romantic have found someone just as un-romantic as themselves? Or something more coherent... Either way, it's a good film. It was in my top 10 comedies of the noughties.

Well, I know it's disturbingly romantic cause they're both crazy, but the ending was meant to be life-affirming, while I sat there thinking "if they have kids, they will be the most miserable people in the world"

That's what I took from it as well.  Also, it was a really interesting development and subversion of the persona Sandler had created for himself.

I can understand this, but frankly I love it, it really conveys Sandler's emotional and psychological state. And I love how awkward it sounds.

It's not a rom-com, I don't think you can pigeon-hole in one genre. That's the greatness. It's not really a comedy or a romance, it's a rather unique film.

Uniquely shit.
Well, what I mean about Amelie is that I know a guy who proclaims it as great because it's "about how weird life is, but even weird people have a way of finding happiness". PDL has the exact same theme, told utterly differently, but still.
Boogie Nights >>>>> PDL >>> TWBB >>> Crapnolia

I was like 7 when I first watched it, so going by that, yes Plus it has Buscemi and Turturro, which puts it 1 awesome person above PDL.

I just read Jayb's review of (500) Days of Summer.

I'm not at all surprised. In fact, I'm pretty sure I told him he'd hate it.
