Edward Shearmur's score for Johnny English is quite fun if not totally original. I hope he's also doing the sequel.

Your mentioning Edward Shearmur reminded me of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. A visually stunning and creatively imaginative film ruined by a wafer-thin plot and some pretty awful acting from Gwyneth Paltrow. However, Shearmur's score, although obviously heavily influenced by John Williams, is very good and he totally nails the required 1930s swashbuckling atmosphere.

 Green Lantern was painfully generic and its soundtrack, for the most part, was forgettable... except for one track. The excellent "We're Going To Fly Now" which had a wonderful theme that should have been used to great effect through the film. It wouldn't have made it any better though...

 The Promise by Klaus Badelt. Horrible film, but a stunning score that is by far the best work of Badelt's career so far.

I've never saw why people thought The Da Vinci Code was terrible, it was a ripping yarn that shouldnt be took too seriously, just like the book and it has the added bonus of the gorgeous Audrey Tautou. The score is absolutely terrific mind you, have it there on my mp3 player and listen to it quite a lot.

Mike Figgis score for his film One Night Stand is fantastic, the film isn't.

Alien 3 is more of an interesting wreck than all out terrible but Elliot Goldenthal's score is the best thing about it.

Riz Ortolani did a lot of great scores for a lot of terrible Italian films, among them Cannibal Holocaust and Goodbye Uncle Tom. The theme song from Goodbye Uncle Tom, 'Oh My Love' was just used to great effect in the current art house action film Drive.

I hated Shutter Island, but I liked the use of music and there is a fantastic mash-up of a classical Max Richter composition and the Dinah Washington number This Bitter Earth that plays over the end credits.

Dancer in the Dark is a ridiculous film but Bjork's score is one of my favourite things she did.

I like Burt Bacharach's songs for what is considered the worst musical film ever made, Lost Horizon. The lyrics poor, but the tunes themselves are insanely catchy, they are just in the wrong film and completely inappropriate for the subject matter.

John Barry's scores for King Kong and Moonraker are fantastic. Both films are hated by many, though I quite like them as 70s kitsch, guilty pleasure way.

 Good call on Moonraker, great score of a dreadful film (probably the worst Bond of the lot).

Nah the scores half decent, I mean 'Duel of the Fates' is one of Johnny Williams' best themes ever although I'd agree not all of the OST is perfect. The final 'Parade' track for example sounds like Grandstand (or is it Match of the Day?). Still at least its only half bad unlike the film.

A great and a good Bond movie, both good scores.

Worst Bond score? Surely it's Monty Norman's Dr.No. Best scores from bad Bond movies? Well you've probably got to go with Moonraker and A View to a Kill.

Make sure you listen to the isolated score on the recent Blu-ray boxset - it has different mixes and performances to most of the material presented on the OST.

 Batman Forever/& Robin: abhorant films with wonderful jazzy scores from Eliot Goldenthal. His score for Sphere is also tremendous whilst the film is not.

More recently I really enjoyed John Powell's score for X-Men The Last Stand, while at the same time hated the film. Entering The House/Dark Phoenix's Tragedy is a masterpiece.

Have to agree with other suggestions already made, with the likes of Moonraker, Hannibal, most of Goldsmith and Hook making regualr appearances on my playlists.

Battle Beyond the Stars on the other hand, fits the 'Camp, good cheesy fun' description quite nicely. It's rubbish, but it's good for a giggle, & as mentioned, the score's pretty damn good.

Oh no Star Trek II is camp and cheesy but so was the original series, and I thought they captured all that superbly! :D

Yep totally agree. RTT is ok in a 'wow look at the ship come up out the water' way but that music....WOW. Listen to it in isolation and it is simply beautiful and deserved a better film for it to grace.
