In what might be the most boring post ever, just wondering if anyone knows somewhere in Belfast (or anywhere easily commutable from Belfast by bus or train) where I can buy some decent single restaurant standard plates. I only need 4 so I don't want to fork out for a dining set, but would like something large in either circle or square. I'd also be keen to know where I can get those rectangle ones that flash joints serve dessert in.

And yes, I have been watching Master Chef recently.

Billed as being the tourist attraction, it always amuses me that NI takes such a pleasure in being responsible for a notorious failure. Anyway, it's opening in a couple of months and while I'm curious, I hope that it offers a bit more than the stuff we already know from various films.

Anyone involved in this or know more about it?

Hell, if we're not naming airports after booze-soaked wife-beaters, we're celebrating ships that can't even make one trip across the Atlantic!

It's all about reliving the Titanic experience apparently, from construction to sinking. You'll be taken through recreations of the shipyard, the launch and the voyage. I know that they've recreated some areas from the ship, including the grand staircase that featured in the movie. No doubt it'll cost a small fortune to get into it too. There'll be the usual conference facilities, over-priced restaurants and gift shops too.

Can I just say for the record that I think the building itself is incredible?

I agree the building looks impressive, had a great view of it from Yorkgate Cinema the other week. �13.50 per adult I think is what they're charging, which I suppose is about the going rate for these sort of things.

Cus we aint got nothing else! I laughed a year or so back when Southampton threatened to jump on board the bandwagon as well, it would have slightly tarnished the uniqueness of the belfast attraction. I am hoping there is a mock up of the front of the ship so I can proclaim myself king of the world as I am sure nobody else would think of doing that.

According to my husband there are some old sailors in his bar that refuse to have ice in their whisky as a result of the Titanic. Might be taking the piss though.

I think, due to combination of listening to U105 and reading the daily headlines of the Belfast Telegraph, that I'm actually becoming obsessed with Belfast's obsession with the Titanic.

Did you know the Titanic Society vehemently opposed the Belfast Wheel due to the fact that it blocked their memorial?

If you live and go to school in NI, but hold an Irish Passport, you'll be exempt from paying uni fees in Scotland. Bit harsh on those who don't I suppose, you could in theory have two people of equal ability, going to the same school, living a few doors from each other and one being thousands of pounds better off for the sake of a piece of paper.
