There seems to have been some major road problems around Glasgow this morning - bits of the Clydeside Expressway and the A77 were blocked. I hadn't realised it was so heavy - it just seemed really really warm.

I read about the problems in Belfast this morning - along with the warning there was more to come. That's what it's saying in our overhead gantrys too - Thursday will see the torrents of doom arrive. Summat like that.

Yesterday was a wild one. About 1-2 pm it started to get really warm, really quickly and was beautiful sunshine for about three hours. Then sure enough, just as I'm walking home from work, bags of grocery shopping on one arm, child on another, it started lashing down. Wee man's loving it of course, jumping in puddles, splashing about, while I'm soaked to the skin and near blinded as I can't see anything through my glasses. Thankfully got home and got dry about an hour and a half before all the power went out, but some of my friends on lower ground have been hit pretty hard, including my work, where there's been issues with the roof and lots of damaged stock.

Loving some of the photos on Facebbok though, including a bunch of students stealing the Caution: Wet Floor signs from the bars and sticking them out on the river runs through it footpath.

I'd a few facebook friends wondering if maybe the heavy rain was God's tears.

A guy in the office has found a pretty cool local design company that specialises in groovy t-shirt designs, some Belfast-related, others just generally nice designs.  I particularly like their Belfast Heavy Metal design:

That is quite excellent. Best read aloud too.

Oh and I'm sure plenty will agree with this:

I've just almost put my fist through the TV at Jim Allister's comments on BBC News this evening about the Stormont debate on equal marriage rights. ARGH!

Re-watching The Wire and it's got me thinking they need to do a Hamsterdam. Find an isolated spot/field, herd all the rioters into it and let them have at it. The rest of us can then go about our normal lives, the police don't have to play parents to a bunch of angry children, and the politicians can focus on more important matters like the economy, jobs, health care etc.

Risky for some of our politicians to focus on issues though, it might expose that they know bugger all about them, whereas they know quite a bit about how to play on ingrained bigotry to stay relevant.

Precisely. I was actually shocked that they had opinions on Syria!

Wee Willie Frazer masquerades as Abu Hamza for his court appearance, without even seeming to grasp the irony in appearing as a hate-filled bigot to make a point about not being a hate-filled bigot. Loyalists Against Democracy won't even have to photoshop this picture! You couldn't make it up...
