Wait, you guys are unhappy because you're getting a game the day it's released? Not one day after or one week after or even a month but on the day of release?

I'm used to being spoilt when it comes to pre orders, and this is the first game I've pre ordered that hasn't arrived early. I'm just excited is all!

You should have seen me when my Dark Knight Blu-Ray turned up 3 days late!

Really? I got my copy through the post today - been playing it since I got home with brief tea and toilet breaks.

First impressions - I like it. Loved the title screen, very Final Fantasy. The opening video is awesome, and as you would expect from a FF game the visuals are incredible. The gameplay is pretty basic so far, combat is basically pressing auto-battle all the time - I can't wait to get some more abilities to open up the battle options a bit more.  Moving the camera is a bit annoying, but nothing I can't handle. The characters all seem pretty cool, even the token comedy guy isn't really annoying. Shit names though. I'm looking forward to playing through the game.

Didn't get mine either, bit dissapointing considering it shipped Friday Morning first class....

Ah well, as already stated we can't exactly complain about getting a game on its day of release.

Same here. And what's worse, even with parcels that fit, if he doesn't think any one is in, he sends the parcels back to the post office. Doesn't even knock! And I have a driving lesson at 10!

... I'm getting this from Lovefilm ... should come tomorrow! I put it on my list on high proirity thinking I wouldn't get it and that they would send Army of Two 40th Day instead. Looks like I will be playing it sooner than I thought. I hope they send all three discs at once!

Can't knock Lovefilm. In the past month I've had Darksiders, Bioshock 2 and now FFXIII ... I've still gotta make the push and finish Bioshock 2 off!

Just sat through one hour of 'Fake Britain'. Daytime TV is awful.

I'm like a dog looking up at the letterbox ready to bite the posties hand.

I think I'll trade in Mass Effect 2 and get this today. I was going to wait but it's out now and tempting. I've still got God of War: Collection to play but fuck it. I might as well.

I'm an hour in and loving it so far. I've made sure to read all of the datalog entries which has really helped to explain what's happening. At first I was a bit lost with the amount of terms it throws at you.

I'm intrigued by this... never played a FF game before, watched some gameplay trailers and haven't the foggiest idea what's going on, but still... it looks promising..

I'm about 3 hours in so far, and I'm really liking it. I'm on the crystal lake and about to fight a rather large monster.

Cut scenes are great, and seamlessly integrate with the game play, and FMV's just look fantastic.

I really like the speed at which it introduces new combat mechanics and abilities. It allows you to get used to each ability at the correct pace instead of being chucked an encylopedia for the battle system at the beginning of the game.

The restrictions on the crystalarium system haven't been a problem so far, and I can see why it was done - it wouldn't have been as fun using suped up characters to beat each enemy. I'm actually forced to use tactics for the first time in an FF game. Usually I grind the levels up until I can by using brute force. It's a nice change!

(And lightning just might be the best main character for an FF game ever - she's twatted Snow three times already. Go on Love, smack that smug git!)

I've just finished the crystal lake section, and I'm loving this now! The Eidolons kicked my arse a couple of times, but I got it on the 3rd attempt! Loved the following video, was like escaping the death star on ROTJ!

I think they focus too much on what it doesn't have, or what it doesn't share in common with the other games. If it was kept the same it would be slated for being a copy of the other games with updated graphics.

Everything in the game works, and after 9 hours with it i'm in love. The combat system, the characters, story, art design, score, menus, upgrading. As long as the monster hunter missions are a challenge, and the crystal system opens up a lot once you get full control I can safely say this is probably going to take FFX off of my top spot for fave. final fantasy game. It's that good.

Every negative point reviewers have raised are simply a way to make the game feel more streamlined and enjoyable.

Have to agree with this. I'm not as far in as Chojin, but I'm loving it, and all the reviews I've read seem to be a comparison to what the previous FF games had in them. And even then, the only bad score I've seen for it is in Edge.

My only real gripe so far is with the music. Not that it's bad, but it just doesn't seem to be as memorable as previous games. And the battle music sounds like something from Sonic the Hedgehog.

I'm loving it too, but most of the reviews I've seen have been round the 8/10 mark - hardly average, just not your usual FF high score. I'm liking how it seems to ease you into the gameplay instead of letting you have access to everything pretty quickly which ultimately confuses me. And the graphics are incredible - you often can't tell when it is in-game graphics and when it is FMV. My only bad point is the names of the characters - Snow, Lightning, Hope etc. Rubbish. But one of the other guys has a chocobo in his hair. Brilliant.
