I would go as far to say that each of the characters in FFX were Iconic in their own way, (the blue lion race predated Avatar by a few years and were far tougher) I would have loved to see that adapted into a film (even a straight to DVD on like 'Advent Children').

I used to spend hours playing Blitzball, trying to get (and eventually succeeding) Wakka's best limit break, it was brilliant. FFX was a really good game, but Tidus almost spoils the whole thing for me. Vaan may have been bland, but Tidus was just really fucking annoying, with his whiny voice and stupid Wonder Years style voiceover. Squall probably would have been just as annoying  is FFVIII had voice acting though.

Looking forward to this though, just over a week to go now. I've sorted out my shopto account so will get the game delivered to my proper address hopefully a bit early. I had to order another game so that I could change my delivery address so I got Infinite Undiscovery - anyone played it? It got average to ok-ish reviews, but it was only £8. I would have ordered Star Ocean cos I quite liked the PS2 version, but they seemed to have hardly any games in stock.

£8 you say? I had my eye on this when it first came out. Looks pretty good. May have to get that at that price.

Pre-ordered from shop-to.
Tues-Fri booked off from work.
2 holidays booked to stop me feeling like a complete social retard.

4 more fucking days! This wait is killing me.

I'm looking forward to it too. Hopefully it'll be sent tomorrow, as said on the previous page, it should be coming early.

I wish I had some time booked off to play this, I don't even get next weekend as I'm going home to Wales for the weekend. Maybe I'll be 'sick' next week...

How are you affording games if you're unemployed? Is my tax paying for your games?

Managed to blag a sample guide from Game today (which is apparently a taster for the limited edition guide) by using my manly charms on the girl behind the counter, apparently you can only get it if you've pre-ordered FFXIII from Game and looking at it it seems quite detaile yet promises to not give away any of the storyline.

Reviews should be hitting tomorrow. Not that a care. I'm purchasing regardless of score.

No Video Reviews as yet, but it raises the same points i've seen raised before. The first 30 hours are very linear, preparing you for the final chapters and the monster hunter side missions

Edit: I just got a receipt email from shopto, does that mean its shipped and headed for me tomorrow? :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a delightful wife who would prefer to know I was sat on the Sofa not getting bladdered and gurgling away at games rather than being out in the big bad world all getting up in Tim Westwood's face and Yipping like a Chihauhaua at him. To be fair, I got Assassin's Creed 2 in order to stop me doing that. She's nice like that.

For those with both consoles, this might be of interest: Clicky!

Personally, after looking at the screenshots and videos in that article, I really can't see much difference at all. Don't get me wrong, I can see the differences, but only just, in motion I'm not sure I'd be able to tell. CG cutscenes are obviously and significantly better on PS3 though, that's a given.

Woop, it's been dispatched. But knowing my current run of luck, I won't get it till Tuesday any ways.

Got a 5 from Edge:

http://www.edge-online.com/magazine/review-final-fantasy-xiii

Still gonna pick this up, I love final fantasy, just gonna lower my expectations slightly.

Was in the midst of  a media blackout like i did with ME2 so i'd comeinto it knowing nothing at all until someone linked me that Edge review.

Same here. Bit disappointed as the wifes got loads of friends round this evening and I'm holing up in the bedroom with the xbox! Still, have a massive back catalogue to get through.

I know what you mean, but IMO it's almost all very hit and miss. I'd say the cutscene sections which Eurogamer and most outlets were saying were worst hit, really weren't all that bad. Sure there was some loss of sharpness around the edges, but the texture etc didn't seem to be lacking in anyway.

However the game often looked washed on the 360, at least background and textures did, character models didn't really suffer at all.

If Microsoft paid any kind of large sum to prevent this from being a Sony exclusive, I'd be demanding some sort of refund for the lack of effort they've clearly put in.

Oh well, not a Final Fantasy fan anyway, so doesn't bother me and the game still looked quite good, though below expectations of games being released in 2010, and it's still easily playable.

I bet there's a frigging massive install needed for it though!
I'm getting this on the 360, as there's no need for all that installing. I aint fussed about the slight loss of picture quality, I bet it still looks as good as the videos.

From what I have read, Square Enix haven't made it possible for you to install all the discs on your HDD and then just play them off the HDD with just disc 1 in for verification, seems daft seeing as it's a very obvious and easy fix to the disc swapping.

I read the full face off and watched the videos, but the difference was so minimal it really didn't bother me.

...and even if it did i'd buy it on PS3 once i'd maxed it out on 360.

My first impressions of this are good. Unfortunately, I've played little over 2 hours so I can't really say I'm that into it and hooked yet but in time I'm sure I will be.

Sadly, I'm now in my busiest period for uni so I don't think I can give this game the time it deserves yet. Soon though.

Ditto.

I was hoping to have clocked up a good 5 hours already. Still, Dantes Inferno is awesome enough to keep me busy until then!
