Saw a bunch of new (to me anyway) steelbooks in HMV yesterday: Edward Scissorhands, Predator 2, Robocop, Firefly: Complete Series & a few others. All of them looked really shoddy, like the designers had just slapped any old pic they could find on the front & back & just thought "**** it, people will buy anything if it's a steelbook"

Yeah, I hate it when the steelbook cover is just the same as the old or current DVD cover. Personally I'll only buy a steelbook of a film I like if I like the design. I'd much rather have the Robocop steelbook if it featured the original classic poster from the 80s for example. Or at least take an iconic image from the film and do something interesting with it, like the Silence of the Lambs steelbook I got this week which features the "Death's Head Moth" from the film itself.

Or imagine this - the individual Bond steelbooks featuring the original poster art. How bloody cool would that be? Never gonna happen though, I know.

Whats happened to the Django Unchained steelbook design? I was going to purchase this until I saw that it had been changed from
this:

to this:

Have they really cut off their legs or is it the packaging surrounding the steelbook?

EDIT: Just moved the angle of my screen and now I can see a black band across the bottom so it must be the packaging they are showing. A bit misleading all the same.

It'll just be the removable J card mate, the packaging like you said and the final design is the top pic.

in most cases the top artwork has eventually ended up being something along the lines of:

I've pre-ordered this. It's one of my favourite De Palma films and the artwork is great.

The artwork is cool on that agreed. Not a big fan of the movie though but a nice looking steel definitely.
