DK, have you looked at the steelbooks on Amazon.de?

Yeah i have, Germany has loads of awesome steels! Only problem is that about 90% of them would be double dips for me, so i try to resist the urge. have been meaning to pick up the waterworld one for a long time. I do own a 10,000 BC steelbook that i got from Amazon.de. I love the movie so much (yes i know) that i own a UK steel of it and a UK slipbox release. I am so tempted to pick up the recent warner one in white as i think it's probably the best looking one i've seen for the movie.

Looper Steelbook down to 18.00 on Amazon now. Order placed.

That was a tough couple of days!

LOL yeah! I'm hoping the Taken 2 one and Skyfall one show up on Amazon soon. I would say also the Resident Evil Retribution one, but i'll be getting the 3D release of that one.

It's awesome isn't it mate! Also sadly the end of an era. The last ever Play.com exclusive steelbook. It's gone OOP already and prices have gone up to 27.99

I only noticed when I was looking for something else. I have ended up buying the Toy Story 3, mainly because of the alien on the first one. Which is sad, I know

There have been quite a few steel books that have caught my eye recently but when it comes to checking out I just can't bring myself round to paying the extra cash just for the nice packaging even if it's just a few quid.

I'm seriously considering buying those Toy Story ones though, they look absolutely fantastic.

I've used the sellers selling them new and halved the price. So the three of them are coming in around 36 plus shipping. Which is cheaper than the individual UK BRs, but not the new single set, I think.

I have a sealed Metropolis Blu Ray steelbook from Masters Of Cinema. I keep umming and ahhhing about selling it. They go for around 60 on ebay (sealed) though there's currently a couple of them on Amazon for 150 and 200... not that they will be sold at that price of course.

Might hang on to it for a while yet...

It is, and I absolutely loved the film. It is a real shame. With Pla.com and now possibly HMV both closing down, I'm hoping someone else is going to get hold of some steelbooks.

Cant even get on the HMV.com website any more. Do you think they will still send out orders if you have pre orders with? Id pre ordered Skyfall and Looper steelbooks with them.

Your wish has already come true! Unbelievably a pre-order slot for the Lawless steelbook has popped up on Zavvi of all places! Zavvi also has pre-orders for the Looper one (along with Amazon). Looks like Zavvi is getting into the steelbook business big time. Although they are notorious for slow postage/ despatch and bad packaging, so fingers crossed, that'll improve as it looks like they might be trying to fill a Play.com sized hole.

A poster on the bluray.com forums contacted the administrators that are appointed to HMV and was told that nothing will be getting despatched until the whole debacle is sorted out unfortunately. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You won't be getting charged either though (or shouldn't be). My advice is to either wait it out, or pre-order Looper with Amazon or Zavvi (Zavvi is cheaper but are often slow to despatch and dont use great packaging). As for Skyfall (i want this one too) i'm keeping my eyes peeled to see if it pops up anywhere else.

Of course the best result would be for the HMV website to go back online and for their online services to resume. I hope this happens.

EDIT:

This is what Blu lemmy on Blu-ray.com posted:

UPDATE

I have finally got through to someone at Dolitte and the advisor stated that HMV will NOT be shipping pre-orders as they are still in talks with suppliers etc etc.

They hope to find a buyer, but in the meantime get your goods from elsewhere or go into the shops.

It's got great artwork (despite no inside art Grrrr) but the movie really disappointed me! That's the risk with blind buys though.

Ah, I saw it at the cinema and loved it. Agreed on the artwork though.

Taken 2 steel arrived today, it's a really nice one with embossed title. I'll get some pics up soon. Goes nicely with my steel for the first movie

Just in case anyone's still after it and isn't aware, the Skyfall steelbook is available on Amazon.

Universal Soldier Day of Reckoning 3D steel arrived yesterday. Not the greatest cover art but the back pic and inside art is pretty coo. A bargain at 13.99 too, considering it's a 3D steel.
