Finally though, just in case it's not apparent the epic making of is only on the 3D release, for anyone who was in any doubt!

The only difference is the ommission of a DVD copy of the movie, which the US version has. Every single extra feature is available on the UK 3D version. This UK version also comes with a digital copy FWIW

Ok thanks. The digital copy can be shoved someplace the sun doesn`t shine....
There won`t be director`s cut coming out anytime soon?

Well i can't answer that definitively, all i can say is that there are 35 mins of deleted and alternate scenes on the disc, so it would seem pointless to do a version with those inserted in terms of an official release (fan edits are available to dl online). I personally dont think there will be one now, as Ridley has said he's happy with the current cut.

There's an alternate Fifeld attack sequence that is way better than what we got with a CG Fifield mutant that looks just awesome!!

I have actaully seen that scene (on my many travels on the net),and I disagree.
They chose the right one, plus the Fifield appearance on the extra's was to convenient in its appearance of the Xenomorph for my liking.
I would have sighed loudly had that been the scene and appearance they chose, thankfully they didn't.

Fair enough, i'm just a sucker for that more advanced mutation design i guess. I definitely also prefer the longer scene as the engineer searches for Shaw on the lifeboat right near the end after the juggernaut crash. In the theatrical cut everything is over way too quick and it's much better with some nice tension built up.

No, but the 3D set comes with an extra bonus disc as seen in the pic i posted. That disc is not available on the 2D release. The 2D disc has the two audio commentaries, 35 mins of deleted/ alternate scenes and the Weyland files, which is the 4 viral promo vids. So by not getting the 3D release, you're missing out on almost 4 hours of bonus content and potentially one of the best making ofs ever.

So if you're a completist Prometheus fan who isn't interested in 3D, you're either fucked or you have to shell out more sheckles for the 3D set.

Fucking Fox.

Well the 3D release is the special edition if you will, so it's not that bad. Just like the days of DVD.

This.

A lot of people who want all the Prometheus extras are going to be stuck with a 3D disc they do not want.

Ok cool, thanks for all the info. I was just wondering if it was on the 3D disc since I can`t play that. So it was on the 3D disc there was no point in getting the release

Just one final, final question: there aren`t any cuts made or anything censored in the UK version right? gotta hate that...

There are absolutely no cuts made with the UK blu ray release. it is exactly the same cut you saw in the cinema! None of that Avengers crap with this release

Not sure if it's in all their stores (it's 22 on line) but in my local HMV, the Touch Of Evil steelbook is down to 15.

Think I'll pick it up before it shoots back up again!

Just came here to post about the exact same thing. Every year HMV has a markdown of stock that simply hasn't sold and that they can't send back. The steelbooks I am aware of in the offer are: (prices are from memory so could be wrong)

Touch of Evil - 15
War Horse - 5
Devils Double - 6
Wolfman - 6
Cars 2 - 10
Pirate of the Caribbean 4 - 5
Priest - 12

There are probably quite a few more, these are just the ones they had in my store which isn't a huge one.

Well, Liverpool now have no TOE steelbooks left. There were two yesterday, but just one when I went back today, so I made sure to snap it up right away. Consider me a happy chappy

The Prometheus one was from Play.com. It was an exclusive to them. It's the 3D release with all the extras etc.

These steel-book-designs look really smart, shame the Dvd's or Blu Ray covers don't match up.
