Received a few steelbooks this week: Lady Snowblood from Arrow and from Masters of Cinema I received Cleopatra and Dr. Mabuse.
Especially the Cleopatra one is a thing of pure beauty

they look cool and look ten times better than an amray case (which i personally think is a little ugly as far as packaging goes), but hey, each to their own

I don't get it either. I'll gladly pay more for more extras or a better cut, but paying more for a different case is madness. You can barely tell the difference when it's sitting on your bookshelf.

A lot of collectors like to display their steelbooks with pride, not necessarily having them tucked away on a shelf. That's the whole point, it's more artistic packaging for favourite movies.

I got that one, Donovan, in the collector's set with the book and other extras. It's gorgeous.

Dunno if this was noticed in the "what have you bought thread", but Fopp are selling Pirates 4 and Cars 2 bluray steelbooks for 5 each.

They're supposed to have quite a few Disney Blu Ray at that point but they're not in every store. I checked earlier this week after the announcement and mine wasn't one of the lucky ones.

I kind of wish i'd bought the collectors set, but the movie was a blind buy for me, didn't want to risk it in case i didnt enjoy it. Watched it tonight though and thoroughly enjoyed it very much!

ZING.

I will defend Cars 2. I genuinely enjoyed it.

Pirates 4 is enjoyable pap, but is pap nonetheless.

I've bought Pirates 4 twice! the steelbook, then the 3D release. I don't even think that much of the movie

It's a beautiful gift set. The book has some gorgeous pictures in it and the art cards and lithographs are lovely.

I saw some pics of the set online, it definitely looks really nice!

I really enjoyed it mate but its far from perfect thats for certain. Great visuals and fx, some good performances but kristin stewart is a bit of a blank as a lead. Also the last five mins are very disappointing.

Prometheus looks good. Is it the UK version?

Yes that's the Play exclusive, has all the bonus content that the normal 3D release has.

Hmmmm, nice. Curious to see how the release (content wise) is different from the US versions

The only difference is the ommission of a DVD copy of the movie, which the US version has. Every single extra feature is available on the UK 3D version. This UK version also comes with a digital copy FWIW

Ok thanks. The digital copy can be shoved someplace the sun doesn`t shine....
There won`t be director`s cut coming out anytime soon?

Well i can't answer that definitively, all i can say is that there are 35 mins of deleted and alternate scenes on the disc, so it would seem pointless to do a version with those inserted in terms of an official release (fan edits are available to dl online). I personally dont think there will be one now, as Ridley has said he's happy with the current cut.

There's an alternate Fifeld attack sequence that is way better than what we got with a CG Fifield mutant that looks just awesome!!

Just to add, i've yet to watch it, but apparently the making of runs at around 3 hours and 40 mins! There are branching segments that makes it that length in its entireity. Also has two audio commentaries which i can't wait to listen to, one from Ridders and one from Lindelof and Spaights.
