There's not many UK steelbooks there, it's a shame as I'm a bit partial to that particular marketing gimmick. Is there a reason for so few? Especially when other countries are getting them....

You can add Star Trek to that list. I'd love it if all my Blu Rays were steelbooks.

I have always thought we got the short end of the stick when it comes to limited packages in this country. Korea has digipaks and box sets, France and Germany have their steelbooks. I know that in Korea for example, expensive sets are used as a way of garnering extra sales because they tend to be quite low. Maybe because we tend to just buy whatever is put in front of us over here the studios seem not to bother? Same goes for us with the lack of those lovely American digibooks.

I'd rather they spend the money on the transfer than the packaging.

As long as the film is good, looks and sounds good who cares what it comes in.....as long as it's not a frigging download.

If it's a special film which I am particularly fond of, for example JFK. I would love special packaging to accompany a personal favourite. But if it's a film I don't give a flying fuck about say Star Trek then I won't buy it. But like you guys I am most concerned about a good transfer.

To be fair though the transfer will be as good as in all the other countries but they get more steel books, it's outrageous I tell you!

It's pretty nice, nothing overly special though. As it was the same price as the normal packaging it was a steel

Band of Brothers is a nice steel box, a smaller version of the dvd set.  No feeble cardboard for blu ray!

District 9 will be a HMV exclusive and is the same price as the normal BD.
Overall I dont think steelbooks are that special because I want my collection to look neat I might not be getting any steelbooks such as the Inglourious Basterds or the District 9, but the D9 steelbook does look tempting.

Well the steelbook for Up just disappeared from the HMV website not long after pre-ordering. So I went for the superset instead as well.

Good news though:

Minority Report Steelbook on the way:

That Minority Report cover is cool man, might have to move in for that.....but I thought Spielberg didn't want his films coming on blu for a while, yet theres two coming in May, is it just the classics he wants to bide his time over for now then I take it?

I don't know, Close Encounters was the first Blu-ray I bought, two years ago. And then there's Minority Report, War of the Worlds and Saving Private Ryan due soon. I think he might be over his issues with the format.
