I don't think you are going to be all new snazzy effects sequences - they will stick to the TOS:R idea - same shots for the most part - slight changes where it had been intended, so extended scenes.

Like if you hope to see the massive space battle in Best of Both Worlds - you won't. a) that isn't what this remastering is about and b) it actully would kill one of the best shocks in the series.

Odd choice of episodes for them to remaster and release first. The pilot is only average,Sins of the father is decent enough, but The Inner light is (despite being a pretty good episode) hardly a showcase for the format.

They should have gone with some of the more eye popping episodes like Yesterdays Enterprise,1100,1001,and Best Of Both Worlds.

If they released BOBW on this set, then a large group of people wouldn't bother picking up anything else. Farpoint was done by ILM, so I can see why they went with that. The other two I suppose are demostrations of how the HD and effects upgrades will look on a variety of episodes - from the big effects heavy ones, to the smaller, character driven episodes.

I presume they're in 4:3 and not going to be retrofitted for 16:9?

From what I can gather this is the case.

Looks good but I will pick them up when they go down in price. I got them on DVD so I can wait. Have only picked up the First movie box set on Blu Ray.

No one is going to buy a set with only three episodes on.

Nah - I actully only own the TOS boxsets and the movies. Haven't bothered with the other shows. And at the end of the day, as nice as this stuff looks, it will still be bland drama.

Until they release the Borg episodes seperately. And once they get around to doing Deep Space Nine - I would pick that series collection up.

Never was a big fan of 'The Next Generation' as I didnt rate Sir Patrick Stewart, and I still dont.
Plus the cast put me off big time when they were on a British Children show about 15 years ago and they wouldnt give an answer becuase one of the Kids mistakenly Wrote one the cast members names wrong.I thought "you (trek cast) pricks".

Much more of a original Star Trek fan.I thought the relationships between Spock,Kirk and McCoy were tense and hillarious in equal measure ie they always seemed to be bitching
Plus I thought the show had more charm.

Concerning the Movies, well I've always liked the Motion Picture and I especially like the Wrath Of khan.

The difference is astonishing. Makes you appreciate the series all the more knowing the effort they put into making the show look great and the fact that we've never been able to see it till now.

Yes but they were charming in their own way and they were also pure Rodenberry.
