Those kind of threads are just priceless. You don't have to worry about what you say because it'll be gone by the morning.

Pfft, what are you all on about everyone knows film sucks? Why would there be so many threads dedicated to hating it if it didn't.

Films are all shit.

Apart from slasher films. They're great.

Wow, a thread that requires some positivity, it'll never last!

Anyway, I love films. All types of films. I love the way they transport me to another place, how I can immerse myself fully and go with the flow of the film or if I'm so inclined, appreciate the artistry of a camera angle, or a piece of music within a scene. I like the works of: Spielberg, Scorcese, Nolan, The Coen's, both Scott brothers (though not so much recently), Gilliam and Fincher, to name but a few. Yes, they're populist but I make no apologies for that, they're just some of my favourites.

I'm glad someone thought to set up a thread to celebrate films, good work Adam.

I love film too!!!!!!

Film is one of my main loves, along with reading books and comics and role playing(yeah I am a geek!) and video games etc etc etc

I try and appreciate all films but some have left me feeling bitter and/angry but very few.

Take the films I have watched recently, No country for old men, I am not a coens fans but I really liked the first two acts.  the last act left me cold, I applaud them for doing something different but it did nothing for me.

Gamer, I really liked it was a pretty good action movie which bludgeoned the viewer with its satire but it stood out from the usual action movie fare.

This is england, really not my cup of tea but I thought it was a decent movie, better than I expected.

three very different films but I liked found something to enjoy in all of them, ok some films have no redeeming features Parasomnia springs to mind

Im on a Classic Hollywood binge at the moment for work, so have mostly been watching a lot of Hawks, Ford and the such like over the past fortnight. This afternoon Im going to be having a look at Terror By Night, a Rathbone Sherlock Holmes flick that is apparently the perfect example of classical-style narrative film making (according to Kristen Thompson!) before turning my attention towards Soviet cinema for Wednesday. I have to cover a wide range of film over the next twelve weeks, so Im trying to take the most out of each area, despite my negative leanings towards early Russian cinema!

I love films, they're one of the best forms of escapism that I know of, and all I ask that they do is either thoroughly entertain me in some way or another (The average, big budgeted summer blockbuster) or have an interesting/thought provoking/challenging story running throughout, basically something that'll keep me and my mates yacking about its merits for a few days after.

So basically I'll watch pretty much anything from any genre directed by anyone, I'm not too hard to impress

Seriously, I was coming in here to create the very same sort of thread. My god, this is a film forum, and all we can muse about is how much we hate lots of films?!

And it is the same damn films and the same damn directors and the same damn actors time and time again. You would think eventully you would get tried talking about the same crap over and over.

I don't know, why don't we ask Deviation about that?

Anyway, my name is Pigeon Army, and I love film.

Film has been my passion since I was a small child, cutting out the cinema listings from the local paper day in day out and meticulously organising them in a drawer I had at home. As I've aged, my love of film has only increased exponentially. From my childhood built on the Second Golden Age of Disney Animation, Star Wars. Milo & Otis and The Matrix, to my know-it-all days in high school when I would play games with my friends revolving around me guessing the name actors in the films they threw at me (not literally threw), to my current university days when I've discovered that I don't really know as much about film as I would like to.

My favourite directors include Bong Joon-ho, Takeshi Kitano, the Coen brothers, Sam Mendes, Stanley Kubrick, Christopher Nolan, Alfred Hitchcock, David Fincher, Robert Sarkies and Orson Welles. My favourite films include Amelie, Brick, The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Attack the Gas Station! I'm a massive fan of the South Korean New Wave and of film noir and neo-noir.

My name is Pigeon Army, and I love film.

Wow, everyone here seems to pay a lot of attention to the directors of films. I love films, but couldn't name 5 directors, let alone the 5 who directed the films i love.

.......Now, lets see if I get lambasted for that, or if the positive mood of the thread will hold....

That's kind of weird but I guess everyone appreciates film differently, obviously some folk will just watch anything that takes their fancy whilst other's obsessively read all the latest movie news and know the ins and outs of the movie business.

But 5 directors, really? My girlfriend could probably name 10

Yeah, film is ok...I guess. But it's not a patch on panto. There's a serious lack of 'it's behind you...oh no it isn't!' in film*

I just decided to leave that to show that PA likes films about animals, and way too much, and to extract revenge.

Anyway, I saw The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant. I really liked it.

I will when I see more of his. Anyway, I saw Kung Fu Hustle today, it actually improves with each viewing. I think I like that film more than PA likes bulldogs.

Have you tried any of Chow's earlier films? Berlin Alexanderplatz isn't that difficult a watch because you can split it into episodes. Really worth trying.

Shoalin Soccer and it's a decent film. I want to watch the one where Chow is a cook though. I will leave Berlin Alexaderplatz for last though, since it is his big epis I want to end Fassbinder with a bang.

This reminds me, I like Stephen Chow. In a completely heterosexual way.

*anyway, this will be the official "I actually like film" thread dance*
