Really happy that it's only 5 days behind as I'm not a fan of downloading shows. Anyone know who many episodes there are and if it's 30 mins or 1hr?

The first season is 6 episodes - subsequent seasons will be the usual 12 - 13 that cable networks commission (like HBO/Showtime etc). They're hourlongs.

Beingf the meeja hor I am, I was down in Cannes last week for Mipcom, where FIC were doing a load of Walking Dead stuff (zombies on the Croisette, that kind of thing), so I got to meet Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies and - in a major fit of geekery - Robert Kirkman.

Day 1 here.  Shame we don't get it on Halloween though.  Looking forward to this a lot, it's basically my perfect premise for a TV show.  Hopefully it'll live up to what i have in my head

I watched the screener. SPOILERS:
Excellent first episode though it contains a lot of exposition. Loved the nod to 28 Days Later when Rick wakes up alone in the hospital. I probably cared more for the father and son whilst I was occasionally distracted by Andrew Lincoln's fake accent. Fantastic ending where he's surrounded by the zombies. The horse getting eaten was pretty gruesome for TV.
5 out of 5

Only noticed a little slip of accent when he was galloping away to be honest.

Loved the opener, really well crafted for suspense and interest, without being jump scary, subtle and simple, although I wish there was less exposition, how have these people never seen a zombie film before?

Beautifully shot, shame about the longer wait for episode 2 now though, 2 and a bit weeks.

At least it's available for Halloween viewing.

Yes, it's the 90 minute opener, it's 67 minutes without commercials though.

I really enjoyed it. Thought Lincoln was good and didn't notice a slip in accent. The father and son acted their parts very well. Even though I've seen a fair few zombie films this seemed different. Looking forward to more.

OK, here's how we're doing this.

This thread is now US speed. That means once the episode's aired on AMC it's fair game. Don't post details if you've watched a leaked screener. And don't post anything that happens in the comic, regardless of how faithful it is/isn't.

FX gets its own thread when it's broadcast on there.

When is it being shown on FX? If it's being shown commerical free as Vertigo says, I might wait as I can't find a decent .avi file of the Walking Dead.

It's only a screener out at the moment. You should have more luck tomorrow morning after the pilot airs in the states
