Well, He-Man, yeah, I can get that. Boy grows up to battle evil. Good stuff, good values.

But Barbie!?! What exactly has a six inch plastic doll got to offer the world except lessons in how to be incredibly thin, the importance of good lipstick application and how to be weak and succumb to peer pressure. Our children deserve better role models. Grrr..

Yeah, they should have made a She-Ra movie instead.

the barbie movie could work- as long as its a comedy thats very tongue in cheek and self-referential. If its a drama about a single-something blonde bint trying to make it as a vet/ life guard/ horse trainer/ mermaid/ fairy princess/ elementary school teacher/ aerobics instructor/ stewardess and or cowgirl then universal is fucked.

Astoroth - you've unintentionally nailed it - a tongue-in-cheek film about an indecisive young woman trying to make it as a doctor/gymnast/ballerina/vet. Any and all of those things. That could actually work. Of course she'd also have to be followed around by an ambiguous pre-pubescent girl - is it her little sister? Daughter? No-one knows...

I wasn't even aware that it's "rated" enough to be overrated. Brilliant

I thought you would appreciate the 80's pop-culture significance of HE-MAN & THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, Timmy. Oh well.

Nostalgia aside, it hasn't really aged well. I obviously missed it first time round but I saw it on TV last week and it was just dull.

This is a no brainer - Barbie will be Legally Blonde meets Confessions of Shopaholic, that is, shallow girl makes good and wins Kens' heart. He-Man i am psyched for - as long as they give him a badass Viking edge. Cringer is the only challage, but that will hopefully be over shadowed by how awesome Battle Cat is.

Where is the Thundercats movie?

Yes the 80's Masters movie was a bit rubbish but I think folks need to remember the palava the makers had when doing the movie. The biggest being the big allocated budget been taken away. Here's are some indications of the what the movie was MEANT to be:

Eloquent, but that would be no. Most people think it's 80s trash. I like it though.

If most people thought it was 80's trash then the DVD sales and action figure sales wouldn't be so high.

Though I'm sure folks who call it 80's trash (forgetting the 90's He-man and the Emmy award wining 2002 series) are into things far more intellectually highbrow, like Star Wars or something.

Masters of the Universe inspired a generation of creative types. Calling it trash ain't gonna change that.

I think the villains in 80s toons were always more interesting than the heroes.

Skeletor
Megatron
Rum-Ra
Saw-Boss

There's no reason at all that He-Man can't be a properly good movie as long as it's done right.
Barbie, on the other hand can only ever be a massive pile of shit.

Such a damn shame the film was so daft! Venger was scary - in fact there's quite a few moments in 80's toons that were not for little kids - all the greater for it!!
