I read about this yesterday - very sad.

He married Deb? That's gotta be weird on the show...

Just watched the last episode of the forth season.  Great ending, wasnt expecting it at all.  How he is going to get out of that one i have no idea, and how he is going to look after the kids and kill people in the next season will be great way to go.  This season has been the best so far, hope they keep the same standard up for the fifth.  And John Lithgow was great, hope they have a great character like him again.

Julia Stiles is to be in 10 episodes of the next season. CLICK

quote:

Showtime has confirmed news that Julia Stiles will appear in ten episodes of "Dexter" this season. According to the channel, Stiles will "play a mysterious young woman who forms a unique relationship with Dexter (Michael C. Hall) in the wake of the death of his wife." Season five of "Dexter," which starts production this month, will run this fall on the channel. Stiles' feature credits include "Ten Things I Hate About You," "Save the Last Dance," "The Omen" and the three "Bourne" movies opposite Matt Damon. "Dexter" also stars Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vélez, David Zayas, and James Remar.

A unique relationship? Some kind of apprentice perhaps?. Quite intrigued by this

Just watched all four seasons of Dexter over the last few weeks. Holy shit, what a show.

Really not sure where they're going to take it now, surely season four's finale implicates him in just too much shit?

Roll on season five!

As for the cancal I think they got to it at a early stage so it seems he will be fine.

Am a massive fan of this show, its the perfect role for Michael C. Hall to flex his muscles, and the supporting characters are very strong also.  I think Rita and Dabrah are two of the most intruging females parts right now.  Love the idea of Dexter actually being more likeable than many of the people he works with, and its a fine twist on the serial killer idea.  You kind of route for Dexter at the same time as questioning his actions.

My favorite series so far was number two, as I think the Lila character really spiced things up, and the all round fermat went to a whole new level.

Four has been a long time in coming, and is going to be one of my most eggerly awaited tv moments of the year.  And from the little I've read here, it sounds like there might be more.

Contrastingly, season 2 was my least favourite, as the Lila character was annoying as hell.

Awesome that Julia Stiles will be in it tho; I like her.

I'm with ElephantBoy. Season 2 was my favourite it was packed full of suspense as they started to close in on Dexter and Lila as annoying as she was added a really good storyline to the show.

Season 2 was very mixed, Doakes was all kinds of awesome, but Lila was sooooooo annoying.

Didn't think she was really that annoying, and for me the storyline not only added some thing different to the show but also to Dexter.  Yeah more supense, and more exciting sub plots, you got much more character devolpment series Two and Three.

So does anyone know when four will be hitting UK Screens?

I have just this moment finished watching all 4 seasons. I only started watching them a week tomorrow. I don't want to work out how many hours I've spent in front of my laptop watching them. What a great show, cannot wait for it to return at the end of September (For America). It probably won't show here until 2011.

**Teeny tiny spoiler**
The ending of season 4 has left me shocked and sad!

Just finished Season 4 yesterday, the wonders of multi region blu ray!  The ending left me really shocked and with Deb now knowing about about Dexters lineage I think the next season could be really interesting. Watched the trailer for season 5 and looks great, it's annoying will have to wait another year to see it!

Come on Season 5!!! This is my most-anticipated programme at the moment.

I'll amend the first post to continue this as the Season 5 thread.

With most of the season premieres I've watched this past week, once the episode started, and they did the "previously on..." recap, I was like "oh yeah!" because I had forgotten the exact events of the cliffhanger.

Funnily enough, I can vividly remember the final scenes of Dexter's Season 4 finale...!

I can't think why!
It's funny, I've been rewatching Buffy season 1 recently and I just can't reconcile that Darla and Rita are played by the same actress!

It is bizarre, rightly enough.

I do love it when characters from one show meet in another. (Derailing slightly, but the series hasn't even started yet...) In Veronica Mars there's a great scene where Charisma Carpenter's character and Alysson Hannigan's character meet, and they exchange this curious almost double take. Funny stuff.

Yeah, I loved that bit too.
It'll be weird to see Angel again in Dexter after seeing him in The Expendables this summer.

SEASON FIVE DISCUSSION STARTS HERE - SPOILERS FOR EPISODE ONE FOLLOW

So yeah, episode one. Pretty damned good. Slow, but then, it was never going to have a 'case' to deal with yet.

There are going to be obvious ramifications from his foray into spontaneous cool-ass-four-way-blade-thingy killing. I mean, his boat was moored to the fuel-pump, so would have been seen, I would think.

Quinn is true to form, being a bellend (albeit one who is actually doing his job, dammit) about the neighbour, and generally I reckon he will bite it at the end of this season. He's my least favourite character anyway.

Simple and interesting, constantly emotional for the audience, loved it, wondering where the season will go.
Really fear the hick Dex killed was too badly done, leads back to him far too easily.

Fantastic episode. Not much to add to what was said before. The acting by Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter was terrific. Really emotional episode and Julie Benz will be missed.

Will she? I couldn't stand Rita and all I wanted to do when she was in a scene was punch her whiney, insipid face in.

Well, I'll miss her! An interesting and fittingly downbeat opening to the season. It's going to be interesting to see how Dexter copes with the kids and everything else.

Really gutted bout rita, watched the first epi of s5 and really wanted to punch Dexter in the face, especially when you see how they started off on that date and he used it as a cover.... However this was fixed with the nice flashback at the end.

Really looking forward to the rest of the season and im curious where its going, makes me miss doakes though, hope his name is cleared at the end, I mean dose anyone swear as cooly as doakes? to me he was the only one who came close to getting dexter :p

Plus Julie Benz is rediculously hot.... or theirs something about her

I actually liked that. I mean, at the time he was doing what he always does: killing serial killers. When his sister suggested this date, he obviously thought, "well, I need a cover to spot this guy, so yeah". And, of course, the entire relationship was based not on mutual love, but on appearances: Dexter only continued the relationship because it was beneficial to his overall appearance as 'a normal guy'. What makes this episode affecting is that, after Hestor's (what sort of name is that for a kid?) attack that we take as quite accurate, we realise - with Dexter - that in the end, he did love her, and this is the absolute tragedy. I thought it was brilliantly played out as a genuine discovery by Dexter.
