I've just read the list and realize that I've joined this party a little lit. But firstly, I don't quite understand you're failure to include the Lord Of The Rings and Kill Bill sequels, disgarding them as part of the same piece. I might just be being stupid or ignorant here, but could the same not be said then about the Harry Potter films? Surely that's all part of the same piece, and yet they warrant a mention? In the wrong hands surely the Rings sequels could've been a disaster. All in all though, a fine list. You can't account for everyone's taste at the end of the day. But for me personally, does Abrams Star Trek not count technically as a sequel? Ditto Star Wars EpIII: Revenge Of The Sith. And for me, as far as sequels go, Beverly Hills Cop II was just as enjoyable as the first, with the Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, actually being better than their predecessors. That's a matter of taste though, I understand that. But it's absolutely shocking to disregard or leave out Mad Max 2, Rocky II and Ghostbusters II which in my opinion is criminally underrated. Just a thought. X

ok firstly it isnt the 50 greatest sequals you cant compare sequals against sequals in the same trilogy, quadolgy etc. they have to be taken as a whole works. lets face it some sequals are blatent set ups for the next film pirates of carribean dead mans chest was a lead in to worlds end and these didnt even come in your list. bourne supremacy blatant set up for ultimatum. a few glaring omissions also casino royal, quantum of solace and any bond films surely all count as sequals by your rules so why weren't they in. ghostbusters for the family sequals is as good as original.
the list for me shows you tried to be too clever with the list whilst at the same time not actually thinking about which films should make the list. where were the dirty harry films, the westerns, 2001 2010?

In total agreement about Road Warrior. Few sequels do not require viewing of its prequel or sequel to still enjoy it. Back to the Future movies are completely different if you've only seen one and not the others.

It's an okay list I suppose. I happy that my favourite Harry Potter film, Order of the Phoenix got on the list. But none of The Lord of the Rings sequels WHAT THE FUCK?!
