This could be interesting, good source material and a good film making duo. Would make a great running series, I look forward to seeing what come of this.

Woohoo! Something new to read. Empire is turning into a great place to get reccs for comics (as I'm a newbie to the genre). First Watchmen and Scott Pilgrim and now this.... Amazon here I come :)

For once I'd like to Darabont tackle something original and not another adaptation. There is no doubt he is one of the best around in terms of these but I would love to see him make something that wasn't based on a book or graphic novel.

How about a sequel to The Fly (1986), Eric Stoltz would be a good choice.

Am a huge fan of the graphic novels and have been wanting wanting something to be done with this for ages. I am just so glad that its being approached in the form of a TV series and not a film so that justice can truly be done to the series. If done faithfully this could be the next best thing to hit TV screens.

When i saw the headline i nearly wept thinking that they would butcher a great zombie story (no pun intended!) by squashing it down to movie length... So glad theyt are making it into a tv series, this has "potential epic tv great" written all over it! Still keeping my fingers crossed that the World War Z movie turns out ok. Now tha\t should have been made in a tv series...

My thoughts exactly. After The Mist I really want to see more horror from this guy.

Darabont is a genius, plain and simple, fucking class director. And The Walking Dead should be a perfect fit. And it's a tv show, lots and lots of episodes..just made my day.

Bugger - I just saw the words The Walk on the front page and I was hoping for another Bachman Book, not another zombiethon. Won't the timing clash with the proposed TV adaptation of The Strain?

This has "AWESOME" written all over it. The Walking Dead is such a gripping story and I was hoping for ages that HBO would pick it up for a series but this will do anyway. Frank Darabont is the perfect guy for the job, he'll nail the perfect blend of character and horror. Can't wait!

I'm glad they've opted for a tv serial to adapt the books, it'll give them more time for the characters. It'll also give a better feeling of time passing, as the books span a long time in the lives of the survivours.
What was mentioned about the focus about being on survival is exactly right.
No MTV zombies though please.
As long as the gore is not dumbed down it should be a classic series, well some parts may have to be on second thoughts... (if you've read all the books you'll know what I mean).
Fingers crossed for this one big time.

I've been reading this for about a month and it is GRIPPING ... was begging to be turned into a movie / mini-series ... if done right, it should be great ... Darabont certainly has the minerals to pull this off. The next big deal will be the casting ... but this is great news indeed

Maybe it's the British-pessimist  in me, but this is such awesome news I know something's going to come and ruin it. I love the graphic novels, US Cable TV should allow it the luxury of unravelling the story at a good pace, Darabont's great and has shown he has balls when he needs them (The ending to The Mist, for example. The film felt quite Romero in places, yum yum yum :D )

Everything's going right!? This can't be. Still, my fingers are uber-crossed. Just pray it doesn't go the tragic way of the Preacher HBO series: Worst. News. Ever.
:-P

Wow...a weekly show about people trying to find some kind of meaning in life while wandering through an apocalyptic landscape overrun by zombies...sounds just like Eastenders to me

Walking Dead is so over-rated.  You should all be reading Kirkman's Invincible and you know it!

I got into this graphic novel series purely by chance, and I don't regret it, the story is brilliant, can't wait for this to be adapted. I doubt they will do it in black and white like the comics though. Wish they would sort out Y:The Last Man too, last I heard Shia LeBoeuf said he wasn;t going to do it because Yorrick is too similar in character to Sam from Transformers. Stupid Jerk.

First Fahrenheit 451 and now the Walking Dead, Mr Darabont is a legend.  If he keeps up his standard of film making I donít mind if he continues adapting at all.

"Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore's series"? Tony Moore drew the first 6 issues, Charlie Adlard has drawn the following 57 issues and counting, so I think, arguably, we should be referring to it as Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard's series.

Please stop doing zombie movies and TV show's, No zombie film will ever beat the original Romero Dead trilogy, Sure the DAWN remake was good but stupid fun, however the original DAWN still outshines it with sheer class.
Darabont did a great take on stephen king's Lovecraftian tale THE MIST, he should make a film version of King's MATHESON/Romero tribute THE CELL, now that would be cool.

Very much looking forward to this.  I've read a few of the Walking Dead "graphic novels", and they're very good.  Although I'm bias becuase I love the genre.

The Walking Dead, The rising, (More rip off's of romero's movies), I have read the comics and thought they were mediocre pap, a bit like Brian Keene's Zombie novels, and MAX BROOK's WWZ were all crap. Why the hell don't They make an ASH VS RE-ANIMATOR, A hell of a lot more fun.
