ORIGINAL: jameswhaleofatime that first pic is downright pornographic- Jake's hairy chest and wet shirt and Gemma's ample bosom- I'm gonna have to sit on my hands... Damn, it really does. Or a fashion ad where great looking white people are placed in the middle of an exotic scene with everything exaggerated (the open shirt, wet hair, ect.) As for the film...I'm still very skeptical. I'm sorry but Jake Gyllenhaul is as white bread, all American as you can get. No matter what kinda hair and costume he's sporting. It just all looks so false. Look, I know how it works and why he was cast (though I would argue he's not a proven movie star who can open a film). Lets face it, this just isn't big enough to be sold on its own merits and needs a headliner. Unfortunately, we got Jake (nothing against him btw). Although, really I doubt there was a better realistic (for the studios) choice. Heck, I'm really surprised this didn't go to Orlando Bloom after his swashbuckling Pirates role. And the Bruckheimer connection. The sad truth of the matter is that there are no big name Middle Eastern actors out there at the moment (big in the US that is). So if one were to be cast it would have been a huge gamble. Personally, being a fan of this series I'd have loved to see it. As for the who I would have cast? Well, I guess its easy to just say a good, young, no name middle eastern actor. But, for the sake of it I'll throw out a few names. Sendil Ramamurthy [image]http://z.about.com/d/tvdramas/1/0/1/b/heroes3-suresh.jpg[/image] Yes Mohinder from Heroes. I know some people can't stand him on the show. And to be honest he does grate with me a bit. But...its just one character and it may well have been intentional. So can he act? Well, he was classically trained in London. And he doesn't just play himself on Heroes. Plus, he does do a fantastic accent (I had no idea he was American). But I haven't seen him in anything else so I can't pass judgment. What he does have is the looks (even as I guy I have to admit that). And if you stuck with Heroes into season 3 (I've now given up on it) its clear he's in fantastic shape (in fact the perfect lean, ripped body for Datsun). Plus he's got amazing hair (yes I just said that but its actually relevant here) He's also somewhat of a name (if only the guy from Heroes). And like him or not is very photogenic. Madhur Mittal: [image]http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3608/3372677163_d44764f505.jpg[/image] His only major credit thus far is Salim in Slumdog Millionaire. But it was fine work in a highly acclaimed film. The one thing he has that would be great for Prince of persia is an assured confident presence on screen. Its why I was able to buy him working his way up in a life of crime. He doesn't have the ideal look (he actually kinda resembles a young Michael Jackson). But he would give it an ethnic feel. And I'm sure he could be made to look the part. He's also not a name but he could be billed as "from Oscar winning picture Slumdog Millionaire..." for credibility. The bottom line with him though is that he had aura of cool in 'Millionaire' when he could have easily come off as just a bastard. And that is important for the Prince.
