Speaking of Caley Thistle, great highland derby today. The last 2 minutes or so were mental! A wee bit reminiscent of that Croatia Turkey Euro 2008 match.

, I think it's time we look to put Sutton and/or Gordon Smith in there, as playing him or Patterson up front on their own really isn't working. Obviously we'll also need to defend a helluva lot better than Wednesday night if we're to prevail. McHattie's inexperience ended up being exposed a considerable amount against Celtic & undoubtedly he's a weak link in that back 4 currently. But with Grainger being a long term absentee, hopefully he'll mature in his inevitable run in the team.

The key to progression though is keeping the thumb subdued. If we do that, I'm quietly confident.

Another in the epic list of "what if..." games.

Still, we had 10 first team players out and a midfield that, remarkably, got infinitely worse after Chris Clark became our 11th injury.

At least these days the Dons get us into the situations where there's enough hope that getting beat is surprising and painful.

Dug ourselves out of a wee hole today. Hope we get fitter by the 11th. At least Rae's back... an actual midfielder in midfield.

Wouldn't count on it mate. We'd have to score for that to happen. And with this manager & the budget he has, the prospects of goals are non existent. If we sell Gowser, Zal & Webster in January or enter administration this season, there's no chance we'll stay up.

In a twisted way though, I'm not even that bothered. Assuming the SPhelL's "unanimous decision" to implement this 24 team, 3 way clusterphuck occurs, playing at the highest level in Scotland is going to be rotten for all anyway. I never would have thought I'd be envious of those in the SFL, or the juniors for that matter.

Well done though. Looked a bit ropey in places (particularly at the Nou Camp) but you got there in the end.

I'd love to see Celtic have a crack at Real Madrid. That'd be tasty.

Anyone other than Dortmund in the last 16 & you'll have my backing.

Congratulations Celtic. As much as I despise The Old Firm, I'm kinda pleased for them not only to qualify for the CL Groups, but to get through them is a colossal achievement. When you think that the total cost of their squad is �14 mill, compared to Benfica, Spartak, Chelsea and Man City, they have pulled off a miracle. Anything now they get is a bonus.

Ach, I suppose it may distract them from league stuff for a coupla games.

I'd really rather they got beat. Now they're a bit richer.

Some dive for the penalty mind. Seen that before. Pity the poor sheltered ref hadn't.

Don't forget the wee windfall the other clubs get from UEFA due to Celtic's European exploits. Not sure on the exact figures but Inverness seem to think they'll get about a quarter of a million.

Pity we can't play Aberdeen every week.

Enjoyed the game yesterday & it was a fairly close one. Dons had the better of the opening stages & pressed quite well in the final 20 (they look a much better side than last season). Very strange (but obviously pleasing) that they've gone so long without scoring against us. Much poorer teams haven't had the same problem bizarrely.

Disappointed to hear in wee Ryan Fraser's decision not to sign a new deal. No doubt one of the next scottish footballers who'll botch his potential in favour of chasing a quick buck.

As for Hearts, amazing what playing 2 up front & Calum Patterson in his natural position achieves (although that was more enforced due to Stevo's injury - who was awarded the MOTM by the sponsors, even though he only saw out the 1st half

). More of the same please John...

And big Traynor now at Ibrox, I thought he had a job there already?

13hrs since the Dons last scored against Hearts. Hilarious.

We're edging toward timidity again. Injuries catching up. Our season is the cup replay now. Which, given our badly glued back together bottle, does not bode well.

Fraser is a kick in the nuts. I've no idea who to believe. The club love blowing smoke, the media are the media and Fraser has an agent. Bryan Cooney who's a Dons fan and generally knows his onions reckons it's an all around clusterphuck. Which sums up Aberdeen since, well, 1990. Get close - steadily less close - to something resembling a good football team only to make an absolute balls of it.

Sigh.

It's less fun mocking your own club than others'.

Might as well blow the dust off & resurrect this thread - as a few things have happened since the 20th December.

The main one? Good to see wee Gordon appointed. Obviously no guarantees when it comes to Scotland & it could go either way, but at this moment in time he's the right man for the job. Already looking forward to the Wales game even if qualification is well beyond us now.

Pity Celtic look dead & buried going into the second leg against Juve. Felt they played quite well & the scoreline flattered the old lady. It was a mistake to play Ambrose though.

Obviously there's not much a title race this season (not like there's really been one to get excited about in the past 20 odd years anyway) but looking at England, Germany & Spain we're not exactly a unique case.

Against Killie the other weekend, that was the youngest Hearts side I've ever seen in the flesh. Felt the scoreline was a little harsh but the lack of experience in that team will probably keep us in the bottom 6 this season. McGlynn's been dealt a tough hand but his tactics still leave a lot to be desired. This 4/3/3 he likes to do just doesn't work with that midfield.

Great to have the diddy cup final to look forward to but at this stage I'd make St, Mirren the favourites. They've just got that extra bit of experience we're lacking right now and without Zal at the back we look really vulnerable.

Rumours are going about that due to Ukio Bankas collapsing there will be manoeuvrings to sell the club at a cheaper price than what Vlad initially intended, here's hoping! (although hopefully not to another nutter)

And all the best to Killie in the next round of the Scottish cup.

Not in this decade unfortunately.

It goes without saying we're now paying the price for grassroot negligence over the past two or three decades. In that first thirty minutes against Wales, I've never seen such an incompetent display of technical ability by a Scotland side (and that's saying something).

Hopefully the stuff Mark Voter is doing now will change that, but it'll be a long time before we're likely to see the fruits of that labour.

In the mean time, we'll do well to finish 5th in this group.

It appears the status quo is on the cards, but the first division clubs may push for something quickly.

Congrats to Celtic on achieving the inevitable. Pretty farcical Lennon had to wait a whole 15 minutes before he could join in with the rest of the title party.

Good win for the JT's yesterday. 'Operation:finish above them' is well on.

So a bankruptcy hearing for Ukio Bankas is due imminently, which will likely result in the company's debts being called across the board.

Administration appearing to be inevitable. Hopefully it'll occur after 1st June and not before.

Whether we come out of it as the same club or not I guess remains to be seen, but at long LONG last the tenure of the regime which has systematically eroded my love for HMFC over the past 8 years appears to be nearing an end.

Bring it on.
