Kudos to Gordon for at least trying to adapt Lovecraft, and now Hodgson - but he's never managed to capture the shadowy sophistication of the master's work, quite often emptying pots of blood and lashings of sex into his low-budget efforts. I'm still waiting with baited breath for Del Toro to adapt "At the Mountains of Madness". I've read a number of William Hope Hodgson's brilliant stories, though I didn't find "Borderland" to be among the most compelling - his "Carnacki the Ghost Finder" stories would surely be a richer blend of Holmes and the supernatural.
