Back to Yorkshire, although a Derbyshire lad, I do love the place especially Whitby which I go to as often as possible when the tourists aren't there. I don't see how it can get any better, the best fish and chips in the country, and amazing views from my window while you watch the world go by.

Love the place.

Yeah, me too. When the kids were little we used to head off to Robin Hood's Bay for a week. They loved counting the 199 steps to the Abbey (it would be even better for adults if there were a pub at the top ), having a picture at the Victorian photo shop and queuing outside the Magpie for hours on end for what you rightly describe as the best fish and chips in the country.
I think I've said this here before, but to climb the steps to the Abbey whilst reading the first few pargraphs of Bram Stoker's Dracula is great fun, he descibed Whitby almost as if he wrote it last week.
I can't remember the name of the local beach, but when the tide goes out it leaves a massive pool on the beach which was great for the kids to paddle and splash about in. Good times, weather permitting.

Top of the steps

No ones going to admit to that, Huddersfield is the ginger step child no one talks about.

My head office is in Brighouse, it looks nice but is full of out of work smack heads, similar to Halifax. I'm lucky i travel alot and work from home in Cheshire most days which is much nicer.

I have been thinking of moving back to the place that has charmingly been referred to as the ginger step child (even though I thought that was Wakefield) as A) I am sick of living in the south and I didn't belong here in the first place and B) I have recently discovered through researching my family tree that I've got family there.

My Mrs is from Huddersfield and most of her family live there so visit regular. I don't think it's too bad as far as some places go. Castleford and Wakefield are much, much worse. But then again I do live in the posh part of Yorkshire.....

I was in t'Yorkshire t'other week on holidays. Lovely part of the world (if in the wrong country). Stayed near Ripon and managed to make it down York, Doncaster and the gf's family seat, Ilkley. Great fun scrambling about on the Cow and Calf. Came a cross a deid, headless sheep.

There were a few reports of dogs attacking and killing sheep there recently. Im convinced its a lion personally.

Wouldn't a dog (or a lion) eat more than just a sheep's head though? Was a bit of a weird thing to randomly come across.

'Twerk': 1. To dance in a sexually suggestive fashion using the hips. 2: Where Yorkshiremen go everyday to earn a living.
