I used to live in Scarborough (North Yorkshire).

Yeah that's it.

Because London doesn't have any chavs at all...

The chav-to-person ratio is higher in Yorkshire.

London chavs are different, they don't bother you and keep to themselves. Unfortunately, you do have to put up with hearing conversations that are based around 'nah blud'.

Yorkshire chav are more like 'ere mate you got summit on yer'.

I was born in Huddersfield and it has changed so much since I lived there I reckon it would be quite a cool place to live now

I'm originally from North Yorkshire, and went back for a visit last week, and saw some breath taking sites. Some places I hadn't been for over twenty years. Some lovely sights. Great memories!!!

I live in Leeds. It's not great.

I used to think that York is the place that old people go to live just before they die. I've since discovered that I love it there.

I've only been to York but loved it. Amazing city.

I've worked with many people from Yorkshire over the years and I find it funny that they seem to think that they're soooo different to everyone else in England. "I say what I like, and I like what I say" they use the fact that they're from Yorkshire as an excuse for being a cunt.

I'm sure you're right. Lots of cunts in the business I work in! I do often conform to lazy stereotypes, and the likes of Boycott, Gough and James Martin, do nothing to appease it!

You can add cricket to that, and I know it happens at football. Headingley is a dump to be honest and I was not at all impressed with the behaviour of spectators at the game last Wednesday.

Leeds is a nice city though and very friendly. Spice Quarter is a really great place to eat lunch and all the bars were very welcoming, even being from "down south." I would definitely go back again.

If Yorkshire were a country....

1. China: 31 Gold, 19 Silver, 14 Bronze = 64 medals

2. USA: 29 Gold, 15 Silver, 19 Bronze = 63 Medals

3. Great Britain (minus Yorkshire): 14 Gold, 10 Silver, 11 Bronze = 35 medals

4. South Korea: 11 Gold, 5 silver, 6 bronze = 22 medals

5. France: 8 Gold, 9 Silver, 9 Bronze = 26 medals

6. Russia: 7 Gold, 17 Silver, 18 Bronze = 42 medals

7. Italy: 7 Gold, 6 Silver, 4 Bronze = 17 medals

8. Kazakhstan: 6 Gold, 0 Silver, 1 Bronze = 7 medals

9. Germany: 5 Gold, 10 Silver, 7 Bronze = 22 medals

10. Yorkshire 5 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze = 8 medals

Meanwhile sporting powerhouses Australia, South Africa and Japan languish behind....

16. South Africa: 3 Gold, 1, Silver, 0 Bronze = 4 medals

18. Japan: 2 Gold, 12 Silver, 14 Bronze = 28 medals

19. Australia: 2 Gold, 12 Silver, 8 Bronze = 22 medals

I agree. I even sent them this picture once, showing my appreciation of their tea and my Jaws obsession (sorry, I have Yorkshire Gold but that's just a stanard pack)

I didn't really have an opinion of Yorkshire until last week when I found out that the wonderful county blessed us with Jessica Ennis. She's amazing... I hear she's pretty good at sports, too.

You see I really don't get this about Jess Ennis, or Pendleton for that matter. They are brilliant at their sports, but I walk past far prettier girls everyday. They should be celebrated for their achievements not there looks, which are pretty average really.

Back to Yorkshire, although a Derbyshire lad, I do love the place especially Whitby which I go to as often as possible when the tourists aren't there. I don't see how it can get any better, the best fish and chips in the country, and amazing views from my window while you watch the world go by.

Love the place.
Both taken from the apartment window on an early December morning, I forgot to add Whitby is better when its cold IMHO.

I just sit at the window, watching the boats and people coming and going. Awesome.

PS Whitby also has an awesome pie and mash shop, and Mister Chips is great if you don't fancy the Magpies queues.

Yeah, me too. When the kids were little we used to head off to Robin Hood's Bay for a week. They loved counting the 199 steps to the Abbey (it would be even better for adults if there were a pub at the top ), having a picture at the Victorian photo shop and queuing outside the Magpie for hours on end for what you rightly describe as the best fish and chips in the country.
I think I've said this here before, but to climb the steps to the Abbey whilst reading the first few pargraphs of Bram Stoker's Dracula is great fun, he descibed Whitby almost as if he wrote it last week.
I can't remember the name of the local beach, but when the tide goes out it leaves a massive pool on the beach which was great for the kids to paddle and splash about in. Good times, weather permitting.
