Heartbeat!

But with one side of my family being from Lancashire should I be saying grrrrrrrrrr and something about the war of roses?

I was born in Yorkshire, but I haven't been back there in years.  Although I've been thinking about it a lot lately for some reason.

I'm one of that rare breed - a Southerner who has chosen to live oop north. Lived in Yorkshire for 10 years now, and I love it.

Sorry, thats a favourite Darlington chant!

Personally, I'm half Yorkshire but I live in Lancashire (Manc) so I'm a bit torn!
Yorkshire roots are stronger though

I've been to Yorkshire and it's "neighbours" Lancashire quite a few times and they're both beautiful and enjoyable places to visit, I've also considered moving back up to near where some of my family comes from, although not right in it as that's Mossley in Manchester and that's a bit of a cesspool!

York is a beautiful city, my flatmate was born and bred there. I also love Barnsley, the town is a very welcoming place (BNP or not) I've found. Hollands Pies are also the best, you seem to be able to find them anywhere in Yorkshire!

That's where I live and I have to agree it's beautiful and theres so much to do right on your doorstep. It's quite good really, five minutes in a car and I can be in York city centre and ten minutes in the other direction is the most beautiful countryside.

Yorkshire is Gods own county....

Yes, yes, he says this too. I heavily debate it.

York is indeed a gorgeous city. "The Shambles" is brilliant!
My ex bought me a stamp from the stamp shop that says "I wholeheartedly resent this".
I stamp things as often as I can!

Midlands? Where the hell is that? There's North or South, I don't see an 'M' on any compass.....

Basically, You're Yorkshire or not. If not, then poor you.

The Midlands can go blow a goat.

Sorry I have an insanely powerful dislike of Birmingham.
And I'm not much keen on Leicester either!

I love Yorkshire. I miss it.

However, I don't miss Bradford- my sole aim when applying for jobs was to get the hell out of there. Seeing as I'm typing this from Seoul, I think mission accomplished.

What are you doing in Seoul Mozza?

No, I don't like Bradford either, or Leeds for that matter. Both are very intimidating cities I find, and that has nothing to do with the multi-cultural aspect as some people have previously suggested to me, I live in south-east London, you don't get much more multi-cultural than around here I can assure you of that.

Bradford is the pitts, but I'll let it because it's in Yorkshire. Leeds is a fantastic city though, not intimidating in the slightest. Believe it or not everything is quite close together. Hate the football team though

The best bits of Yorkshire lie outside the cities, see, Yorkshire is so good even someone in Seoul misses it

I was born in Bradford, and spent 15 years gradually moving further and further towards Leeds, which is where I currently reside (having lived in Exeter, Plymouth and London at some point). Bradford is a hellpit, but Saltaire is amazing, as is the National Media Museum (Formerly the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television). Between them, the national media museum and the former Odeon gave me the grounding in my love for film.

I was born a 'northern monkey' but have sadly now become a 'southern fairy'

Born and raised in Rotherham for the first 7 years of my life.

I live near Leeds/Bradford airport so pretty near the country side. Love it. Though the odd smell of horse shit does still catch me out in summer

Me and the missus are having a stand at the "famous" car boot there in a fortnight. I've heard that its a pretty bizarre place, and the only location in the whole of Leeds where its acceptable to eat a burger at five o clock on a Sunday-morn.

In Hull I saw a takeaway that serves fried chicken til 4am!

That's pretty extreme fast food wise.

What?

You want to come round here mate. We have fried chicken shops that'll serve you at 11am, 2am, 5am, hell, even 8 in the morning if you want! They never seem to close.

I stand behind this - if there was a nuclear bomb dropped here the next day you could still gurantee there'd be a fried chicken takeaway open somewhere.

So long as there's fried chicken available when I'd like it that's fine by me.

That's like saying Eastenders is a true example of how Londoners live.....

An American decided to write a book about famous churches around the world.

So he bought a plane ticket and took a trip to China.

On his first day he was inside a church taking photographs when he noticed a golden telephone mounted on the wall with a sign that read ‘$10,000 per call’.

The American, being intrigued, asked a priest who was strolling by, what the telephone was used for.

The priest replied that it was a direct line to Heaven and that for $10,000 you could talk to God.

The American thanked the priest and went on his way.

Next stop was in Japan. There, at a very large cathedral, he saw the same golden telephone with the same sign under it.

He wondered if this was the same kind of telephone he saw in China and he asked a nearby nun what its purpose was.

She told him that it was a direct line to Heaven and that for $10,000 he could talk to God.

‘OK, thank you.‘ said the American.

He then travelled to Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Russia, Germany and France.

In every church he saw the same golden telephone with the same ‘$10,000 per call’ sign under it. The American, upon leaving Vermont decided to travel to the UK to see if the British had the same phone.

He arrived in Yorkshire and again, in the first church he entered, there was the same golden telephone. But this time the sign under it read ’20 pence per call’.

The American was surprised, so he asked the priest about the sign.

‘Father, I’ve travelled all over the world and I’ve seen this same golden telephone in many churches. I’m told that it is a direct line Heaven. But everywhere I went the price was $10,000 per call. Why is it so cheap here?’

The priest smiled and answered, ‘you’re in Yorkshire now, son – it’s a local call’.

Never a truer word spoken...
