ORIGINAL: impqueen I've recorded it for tomorrow, worth the watch then? I know it was insanely dangerous in the old days, it's ridiculous the sport managed to survive with so much loss. Definitely, as a documentary I would rank it up there with One day in September in terms of quality. the talking heads are all fantastic, and I think that it shows how fleeting the fame of Formula 1 is. it also depicts a time where there were huge changes in F1, from the gentleman racer moving toward the professionals you see today and the move toward sponsorships, use of aerodynamics and the start of the GPDA getting teeth. utterly brilliant doc. It was very good (and another reason BBC4 needs to survive) I watched with my mother who has a fleeting interest in the sport and she was quite shocked and not a little appalled but made the comment about the differences between the drivers of today and then. The final footage of David Purley is heartbreaking, I've seen it before but it never fails to fill me with frustration and shame, it's inconceivable the race was allowed to continue and that no other drivers stopped, the marshals were a joke.
