This movie screams out turkey already. Everything about it seems completely wrong. Holmes looks completely anachronistic. In fact it's one of those cases where the star swamps the character - I don't see Holmes at all I just see Robert Downey Jnr.
The trailer was ridiculous also.
I dunno...am I the only one who can see this is a disaster a mile off?

I concur. This movie seems very little to do with Sherlock Holmes as i see it.

To be honest i don't know much bout the books except the characters and his main nemesis, so i not really bothered about how faithful it is to the source. The trailer makes it look like its aimed at a younger audience but i'll still go see it because although it's clearly not as dark or as . . . mature as most of us had hoped for, it looks like it could be a bit of craic but i ain't expecting any oscar winning performances

I know fuck all about Sherlock Holmes but this looks like it could be good in a Plunkett & Macleane kinda way.

Unfaithful it may look, but it amuses me Empire highlighted the lack of deerstalker -- an invention of illustrators and other film adaptations, not the original text -- so in that respect it's actually somewhat faithful.

Yeah, I have my doubts about this one. I'm more looking forward to Baron Cohen and Ferrell's effort.

Posters lately are a pile of shit.nothing about this says buy me.give me the classics from the 60's an 70's were they are nearly artwork and none of thios photo shopped nonsense. it really wrecks my head. see recent efforts from angels and demons, with Hanks' big photoshopped mug lookin at you and for some wierd reason, sparks flying all around him.rubbish.

I'm excited about this. I'd take RDJ handcuffed to a bed over crap boxing
day tv any day. Can't help but think if this movie was directed by
anyone other than guy Ritchie people wouldn't be so cynical...

I'd pretty much watch Downey Jr read out the phonebook (probably on a Sunday afternoon, not a date night) so this is a thumbs up for me. That said, this does look a little bit of style over content

I think it looks awesome!
No deestalker? It's not in the books and who cares? Everyone has done a version of Sherlock holmes from the Muppets to Star Trek!! People need to stop being precious and enjoy a new interpretation.
RDJr? Midas touch and his rendition (based on trailer) will be great to watch.
People are judging based on Guy Ritchie (emmie87 is right)- judging from the trailer he has got this one right!
I for one will be leaving my turkey sandwiches at home, going to the sales then going to see this on Boxing Day!

Oh and Rachel McAdams has done lots of great stuff recently too, I can only guess she will be great again in this!

I am all in favour of this and can't wait!

Could be good, although anyone else think Downey's head is far too big for his body on that poster?

From what the trailer shows, it doesn't look like traditional Holmes, but anything with RDJ in is good with me.

Do you think Robert is a perfect choice for playing detective Holmes? Anyway, I might see it or not see it.

Look, why are we interested in Sherlock Holmes? That is not a rhetorical question, and by it I mean we are interested because we can learn so much from his experiences, especially of the powers of observation. In this film, Holmes is a badass punk, and though the trailer may look action packed, and stuff, true Sherlock Holmes fans would shun this yarn.

Is it just me, or do their heads look too big for their bodies? Like gavoconnor, I generally dislike modern movie posters too. All photoshop, no actual art.
